- Zimbabwe has changed its controversial Land Tenure Act. It saw government seizing thousands of acres of white-owned land in the early 2000s. That land was handed over to beneficiaries, but remained assets of the state. Now, people will be able to use the land as collateral for loans or even trade it. A lot of the white farmers were foreigners so they are not even covered by the act. It states that land can be transferable or sold between “indigenous” Zimbabweans. Who is an “indigenous” Zimbabwean? Essentially the government has move from communism to free markets but only for “indigeneous” Zimbabweans.

Zimbabwe will not come right. If the Chinese are there the people will get poorer still. What was Zimbabwe in the 50's. Homes had breadwinners. Now they are stuck with useless money with no value and a country that cannot produce enough food. When we were there people were coming up to us begging for jobs in South Adrica. Go figure. Phones don't work, power off more than on. It has gone backwards by years and years. Sad but they never learn. Ever.
I was in Zim last year for my company to distribute tyres. This place is very much backwards. Many small farm for family only. They want only American dollar or SA rand . Electricity loadshed 8 to 12 hour / day. Chinese shop everywhere. I see many Chinese drive very nice car to farms . My brothers still walk or bicycle. Many get sick . Die 55 years . They tell me the peeples eat all wild animals but nature reserve animals is run away or gone. 😢 . There is too much bad stories happen and peeples are suffer. 😢
