Its difficult to let go of someone you love, I was in a similar situation, my relationship of 12 years ended, but I couldn't just let him go. I did all I could to get him back, I had to seek the help of a spiritual counselor who helped me bring him back*

@@reludennis Even longer plans are effected by life. We had dudes that had plans for way longer periods of time. - Thank god, it failed miserably. Some plans, on the other hand, work out for millenia already..some dudes painted pictures on cave walls, probably in order someone would find them couple years later. Uncertain if this even was a/the plan - you never know.
