You can tell he lost motivation when Ronnie was gone.I think the reason he didn't get more than 4 olympias is because Ronnie was not there to push him anymore.

The reason is why he retired his health. He was on the very edge and he doesn't wanted his body push harder. Just like Dennis Wolf. However Dennis had to have an operation and later that he moved further in his life.

Jay is definitely right about bodybuilding not being as exciting anymore. I got bit by the bodybuilding bug back in '98. My very first issue of FLEX magazine had Jay cutler in it and I've been a fan ever since. When Jay left bodybuilding, it was like when Jordan left basketball. I still love the sport but it's just not the same.

Jay Vs Ronnie battle was one of the best in the history of bodybuilding! despite getting defeated jay never lost his cool & started bitching about anyone and both of them were really cool & friendly on stage. In the final pose down how ronnie & jay touched each others legs was really fun to see, that showed how great sportsmen they were. after so many years we've never seen any of them getting into feuds or arguments with anyone which makes them a great person! how both of them worked so damn hard in the gym was an off stage competition. unlike today we see athletes pushing each other on stage, not competing anymore or bitching behind backs!

The first time I ever picked up a bodybuilding magazine was back in 06' when I was just 15, I remember how they always talked about the crazy rivalry Jay and Ronnie had. Honestly I miss those days because those magazines taught me a lot about how to train properly and importance of nutrition. The performance both of those guys put on during the early to mid 00's is second to none and I don't see a rivalry in the future even coming close to encompassing the rivalry Jay and Ronnie had, such an incredible era for bodybuilding that I'll never forget!

Ronnies back in his prime was probably the best ever. Phil Heath will most likely beat Haney and Colemans eight wins but only time will tell. Jay you are still the man.

About the camera angle, etc. Fuck off what others are saying.
Get a lense somewhere around 85mm. This is the go-to for video. 105mm is good, even 135mm for close up video of intense moments. You have enough room in the focal planes to move the camera further in or out. Or, use a zoom lense like 24-120mm, and set it around 85mm.
Buy some lights. You want a light behind the subject (typically shining up from the floor). You want a light from above, usually in front at a slight angle. And then you should have some light from each side, minimal light shining onto them from the front--it will wash out their color and the depth perception. Use your lights to accentuate shadows that bring out their frame and contour. It can be a fucking lamp in one place, a flashlight in another, natural sunlight overhead, whatever works. Buy more expensive shit when you get the money. But play around with the lights. Have your girlfriend, or boyfriend, sit while you try different light angles and intensities, and film it. It will always look different on film vs by eye.

I'm not gonna watch the video not out of spite but because I believe Jay does not hate Ronnie..Without Ronnie I don't think Jay would have been the man he is today...Remember, through out time the best in the world went head to head with another ferocious competitor, it's what made them the best, other than dedication and training.

More the other way around... You can tell by Ronnie's reactions (e.g., "they like him"), and the way he stood onstage at the end in 2006, he may as well have did the Steve Michalik pose...

I wonder why Kai stopped chasing Phil.

    • @SlimNubster
      @SlimNubster 7 лет назад +55

Ascended Serenity cuz he knew he didn't stand a chance against the politics. I think it was the 2nd time around, Kai CLEARLY beat him, but Heath had the edge as the prior champ. all IMO of course.

SlimNubster yeah I think Kai has freakier proportions...Phil just had that all around good cookie cutter physique. Politics are silly AF imo. Kai should have done the European Olympia and taken the crown of that every year so people eventually consider that a higher Nouveau bodybuilding show.

slimnubster - I really don't care for either of them but there was never really a point where kai clearly beat phil....
infact, kai was actually lucky to place 2nd in his last olympia....most ppl had dexter and shawn ahead of him....
the real reason kai is not competing is not coz of phil, it's coz of the rest of the line-up....he knows he will never beat phil and if he competes again, he risks losing his number 2 spot also...
remember, he dropped out of prague after pre-judging when he realised dennis was clearly going to win the show...also, the only reason he beat cedric in the arnold was coz of the posing round...in terms of physique, cedric had him beat....

Ascended Serenity fair enough...just don't think its fair on phil when ppl say kai is the uncrowned champ....in reality, over the 2 days(pre-judging and finals), phil has always been the better BB...

I bet at one point Jay, Phil and others on that Olympia stage claimed they had the same waist measurement as me who weighs 73 kg, and some deluded people actually believe them.
