    I've seen this problem before and it's not limited to just android head units. I saw this with a Pionneer head unit. The 3rd gen prius needs 12V going to the antenna to power it otherwise you'll see poor reception. I can't remember what I did, but I believe I connected my antenna to the 12V accessory supply directly instead of relying on the head unit since I had low confidence in the unit antenna power supply. The harness that came with this unit obviously wasn't right which for sure didn't help.

    Get powered antenna adapter, which gives 12V for antenna amplifier, and you will have good radio signal almost everywhere you go.

      They didn't have a fix for it. Had to return and get a refund unfortunately. Was really hoping to use that Andriod unit.

    Looks like the wrong unit the one you have looks like for newer prius but not sure
