    Music Theatre @AIM
In the Bachelor of Music (Music Theatre) degree, students develop the ear of a musician, the body awareness of a dancer, the imagination of an actor, the vision of a director and the fortitude of a producer.
    Practical Skill Development & Performance
All units of study are practical in terms of value adding to the performance experience. The underlying approach is that creating numerous performance opportunities will build the confidence and skill level required of students wishing to make a career in music theatre both real and rewarding. Skill development is tested when the student is required to show what they have learned in the performance arena.
    Major Studies
    Individual Voice Lessons
Voice class plus coaching with an accompanist, development of a flexible vocal technique in the stylistically versatile music theatre genre, development of an extensive repertoire for audition and performance purposes, plus development of ‘one on one’ individual singing.
    Masterclass
Development of the singer as musician and storyteller, interactive group work and refining of vocal performance.
    Performance Studies
Researching, rehearsing and performing works from the 1920’s to the present day including Australian Music Theatre works. Creating, producing and performing original works, work shopping new works for Industry composers/writers, plus developing production skills and performances on and off the AIM campus.
    Dance & Acting
Dance and Acting classes are an integral part of the development of the Music Theatre performer. Dance classes develop technical skill and choreography. Acting, as an essential component in story telling via song and as a craft unto itself, is an integral part of the Music Theatre course. Students attend technical class and text based studies.
    Ensemble
Music Theatre is about telling a story and the making of music together. Ensemble classes develop the art of group singing. AIM produces a major Musical each year and students will be involved in rehearsals for these productions facilitated by additional Ensemble classes.
    Associated Studies (Electives)
Students select two associated study units from a suite of offerings including Teaching Techniques, Conducting, Movement for Stage, Body Awareness and Psychology of Performance, Arts Management and more.
    Academic Studies
All Bachelor of Music students undertake a series of Academic Studies units. These units cover theoretical and aural musicianship plus historical and cultural studies of music. In the Foundation stages (1-2) of the degree, students cover a broad range of music styles and genres, including western art music and contemporary popular music. In the Industry stages (3-6) of the degree, students can to focus their critical thinking in a variety of specialist areas including contemporary, jazz, baroque, classical, romantic, avant garde, music theatre, film, roots music, world music and latin music.
    Collaboration
With a network of more than 1500 performance, production and management students and unsurpassed performance, production and teaching facilities, AIM courses promote creative collaboration essential to career success, setting AIM graduates apart from graduates of other universities and learning institutions.
    Teaching Staff

I'm Vinnie. Anyone got tips at all - I'm planning on playing him as a goofy, slightly idiotic individual who doesn't think much before he speaks. He means well at heart, but he's just a bit stupid.

    • @ligerton
      @ligerton 4 года назад +2

Yeah i did this show recently as Patrick I think Vinnie was played really well I think your approach sounds right but you should try and make him more of a character that develops throughout the show

@@ligerton was really good. I did his lighting in the performance!!!!

I think that's really good and how Vinnie would act, like the Vinnie at my school is a bit stupid but well at heart like you said and he tries to be this big flirt type of guy but it doesn't really work for him which can be comedic :)

@@soggwog Yeah, I think that's good. It won't matter much now though, I doubt i'll be able to perform. Our rehearsals were cancelled in mid March, and we've gotten no news about it since. So much for performing mid July...
