Sad fact: BomberLink asked Sega for permission before starting this project & they agreed to let him do this Remake. But with version 5.1 & about 8 years later, Sega changed their minds & demanded immediate stop for SoRR developement. My guess is, that Sega didn't expect that much dedication, ambition & success from Bombergames to fullfill every SoR fanboy's dreams & was eager to shut it down with the introduction of the SOR Maker, which enabled users to create mods. I fear Sega already felt like not living up to expectations coming with this... I also think they didn't want the franchise to spread beyond & infect other trademarks, which can be coded into SoRR. Wether good or bad mods, the franchise would've been difficult to be sequeled after SoRR. Links for this are still around, but slowly fading as is the community. BomberLink himself never returned to the community after Sega forced him to stop this. If I feel like playing a beat 'em up, I play this. In the end the engine used was heavily customised & has nothing to do with the one Sega used themselves.
Actually Bombergames never got a response from SEGA and continued production on the idead that their silence meant they didnt care. Of course we know that after v5 was released, they were issued a C&5 order.
That is so sad... This had so much potential! I mean look at this beautiful vivid master piece! The character customisation is smooth as hell with all the SOR main game elements (roll dodge and special moves on SOR1 character mods) and extra playable characters! It is a shame to see talented gamers/programmers create a better engine than the big branded companies and make a series so much better than the original... For instance, look how Sonic Mania did better than Sonic Forces! Shame on you Sega!!! Enough rant... So, would we all love to have a Golden Axe remake?

That's right, this fan-made game is better than the fourth official installment, why can't you just run and roll with everyone? Where are the alternative routes and ends? Streets of Rage 4 = 0 replayability

MrBravi final fight had a bigger budget bcuz of being made by Capcom and had better graphics, but everything else was all SOR... This series was SO DOPE, especially if you grew up when this shit came out... And due to the market in the states, a LOT of beat em ups never came over to the states... Thank God for emulators bcuz i can catch up as an adult lol
The first Final Fight game was garbage. I beat all 3 with a SNES emulator and only the third had any real effort put into it, although it was really easy. The other 2, especially the first, had almost no enemy variation or unique quirks to them.
I think those games lacked representation because they didn't have a console port. Or at least in AVP's case, the game was reasonably weak and lost its novelty around halfway through. Cadillacs And Dinosaurs was still great, but I think what Streets Of Rage had going for it was the street justice vigilante motif everyone idolized in the early 90's. Even Double Dragon didn't get that part very well.

Meanwhile when fans were making a remake of Chrono Trigger SquareEnix stepped in in the middle of production and shut them down. The Revenge of Shinobi also has some awesome tracks that Yuzo Koshiro designed. Also, one of the tracks, as well as one of the levels, would later influence the Sonic series.
