with the recent friends line up, while I'm more of a modular building city guy, I think that friends will sell super well with both boys and girls, it's looking really promising

Thanks for the support Adorabuild! You bring up some great points- but I have a feeling this evolution will be accepted by most. It’s crucial that Friends evolve as it begins its second decade on shelves. It only helps that fans outside of the target demographic/core fanbase are coming around to support this fantastic LEGO theme.
@@OurToyWorld one of the main comments I’ve heard from some Friends fans is “where is all the pink.!” Which made me laugh to see hints of pink in the new City sets

I still remember all the sexists and social justice warriors complaining about friends in 2012. 11 years later it’s highly respected and it kicks LEGO city’s ass. It’s a trailblazer theme and it’s broken gender barriers. Friends Main Street and the og heartlake mall are Minecraft god apple tier sets

But… it’s hard to believe they were going to cancel friends this year and then didn’t…
They were about to cancel Friends? That’s crazy. And in my opinion, as long as they keep releasing amazing builds, the fans will demand more and more :)
I think Friends started being appreciated mostly because of the solid builds. For the last few years, City was downgraded - baby-ified, so to say - to such a large extent that now buildings are only facades, realism is out the window etc. That really left a void between Junior-styled buildings and detailed, AFOL-oriented models like Modulars. So they simply went with the best of both worlds: Small builds, but with just the right amount of detail. That was the main factor why people (hell, even me) went and realised Friends wasn't so bad after all. Win-win.
It’s unfortunate that the rise of Friends has occurred alongside the downfall of LEGO City. I wish we were able to see both of these themes reach new heights at the same. Still though, I’m glad Friends is making so much progress as a theme, we can only hope that Friends’ evolution causes LEGO City to change for the better.

i love the friends lineup due to its storytelling aspect - my daughter love the play features of the sets and thats why i am making up a friends city for her.

Richie you know I’m just an old grumpy marketing dude from the 80’s 😆. Friends was originally made to take market share from Polly pocket just like brickheadz were made to ride the funko pop wave & take a slice of that market share. It’s not a bad thing…smart for LEGO to do that. I just call a spade a spade when I see it. Polly Pocket is still going strong. My nieces love it & whenever I buy Polly kits for them one of my nephews asks for it as well. He’s only 3 but gets pissed when I don’t buy him Polly pocket like I do for his sisters 😆.

This might be an unpopular opinion but I like friends a lot more than I like technic sets
I don’t think you’re in the minority with that belief- especially with all the fantastic Friends sets that have been coming out over the last couple of years.
LEGO Friends from 2012 to 2017 was at its peak. LEGO friends today is absolutely horrible.
How? The sets are 10x more impressive

@@ButteredBread201 it does, the characters in Friends now are poor. The sets range from astounding to stupid. The music doesn’t even come close to the 2012 to 2017 days.
Heartlake City used to be a a beautiful, natural city in the old LEGO Friends. Since 2018 it’s been depicted as a modern, generic metropolis.
