I lived in Hanau from 1995-2000 some of the greatest years of my life. I lived downtown on Nurnburger Str#11 on the top floor below me was doctors/dentists offices. Right outside was a store that sold odds and ends and under ground was a bar i use too go to. I left alot of good friends there, friends i can truly say i loved. I miss Hanau so much i hope one day i can return there find my old friends drink some beer ride the train and enjoy myself like i did years ago
My twin brother and I were stationed at Pioneer Kaserne July 71- Jan 73, 39th finance section. We worked in the first building as you drive in on left (bldg 5). Hanau is so beautiful. What great memories and great video.....Hector and Victor Juarez Lansing Michigan
Was stationed there in the 80's . To young and dumb to really appriciate it then , but it was a really nice little city . Probably one of the best places anyone could have been stationed . I plan to go back in the near future to see it again . Fantastic people
Oh my, this video generated so many people who know the state of Hessen -- Hanau, Erlensee, Gross Auheim, Steinheim, Budingen, Duedelsheim, shout out up to Friedberg,,,,beautiful state. I lived in Hanau from 86 to 90, Frankfurt 90 to 94, miss it every day, went back to visit in 2007. This area has been prized for over 2000 years, look up the Limes wall and the Roman ruins, many which I used to visit. The Hanauer folk taught me German and how to eat and live well, the Hessians are a special and kind people of great culture, be sure to visit and if you have, make it a point to return!
I was in Hanau in 1974 to 1977. I was in my early teens but I still remember life as a military brat in Germany. Pioneer Kaserne and the PX. All the little restaurants. Shopping at the Kaufhoff for records and the latest clothes. Going to dances on base and at Hanau High School. A short but sweet stay. I'll always remember Hanau. David Delaunay
I joined the u.s. army on my 17th. birthday .from a small town in southern indiana. I was stationed in hanau and had a great time there! I recall walking back to the base many a late nights after drinking in a pub and feeling just as safe as i did back in indiana. miss that great german beer!
brings back good memories of a beautiful country with great people, personally i have many fond memories of Germany, to include the biggest with my first son being born at ST Vincenz Krankenhaus. Stationed here from 97-99.
The first place I lived after living in New York for the first ten years of my life…Hanau grew on me during my three years there (86-88), and I truly grew to enjoy my time there. I did return to Germany from 92 - 94, yet Kaiserslautern was a different (not necessarily bad) experience for me-this made me appreciate even more about my time in Hanau.
I was born and raised in Hanau until I was about 6 when my mother met an American Soldier from the Pioneer Kaserne. I haven't been home in 17 years and it's nothing like I remember it to be back in 2001. My German family still lives there so hopefully, I'll get to go back someday.
hello hanauborn glad to see u post this video. I was there in 90-93. I know Lamboystrasse and other places in hanau. I used to go to Swimbad in Heinsrich Swimbad in hanau. I was station in Budingen and lived in Dudelshime. cheers. I like to hear from you.
I am from Mexican race live in Texas. My familia and I lived at Dudelshim for 3 years. What a fantastic village. German pople are very smart, intelligent, they are mostly to themselves, but it does not mean they are not friendly. I totally agree that Germany is the gateway of Europa.
Thank you for your comment. Having your son born there is very cool! It will give you a good excuse to visit Germany again when he is old enough to appreciate it. My father (who I have never met) was in the service there in the 60's. I only just recently found my biological mother as well as 2 older brothers and 2 younger sisters...Thank you again for your post!
Hi Rita, I have visited Hanau about three times, basically to sight see (being so close to Frankfurt) and to find information on my biological mother. I finally found her about 3 years ago. She married an America Serviceman and moved to the states about the same time as my adoptive parents brought me over. I found out I have 2 older brothers, 2 younger sisters and Aunts, Uncles and cousins all over Germany. I got to visit with some of them last Septm, which was life changing!

I was stationed in Hanau Germany back in 1981 to 1984, I was in the US Army, but I spoke German, because my grandparents spoke it most of the time. I miss it so much, I do have relatives there still. WOW!! what memories, thank you for that video. "Ich Lieba Dich" the video. Spelling not good.
