I did this exact thing when I visited my hometown for Lunar New Year many moons ago. Dismantled about 30+ Pop-Pops (as we called them) and made the mother of all Pop-Pops. But would scrape off Sparklers into it and also add in some random Box type Firework gunpowder into a small cardboard box lined with paper towels and tape. Moving the long fuze from the box firework into it and lighting it. The blast would make the alarms of the cars go off that were on the other side of the basketball court fence. It was fucking awesome being 14.
Can confirm. Making a huge one is a waste of time. If you make it too dense it can't spark, but you also can't make it too loose because it also can't spark. It's legit easier to make a bomb than it is to try and upscale a pop-it.

When I was a kid I took apart an entire pack of cap gun caps, dumped the charge into a foil envelope, and put the envelope between two small/medium stones wrapped in foil... I could not find any trace of the rocks after impact and it was about as loud as .45, I still regularly think about how lucky I was to not catch any shrapnel... or cops at my door 😅
