AWWW. You lucky man. Wot an experience. The most I ever got was a Brake Van Ride when I was a Volunteer on the GCR and a Multiple Unit on The Embsay Railway. Excellant footage mate. Something to look back on when you get to my age.
Thanks Keith. Yes, this is one video and experience that I'm not going to forget. Chris suggested the idea to me as the railway were offering cab ride passes so I thought what the hell. I don't travel on preserved lines very much, so this was quite something for me! Really enjoyable and well worth the trip over for this.
Great video HMP, can't beat a cab ride in a Deltic, I had Alycidon at Nene Valley Railway on more than one occasion in 2009. So alive these awesome machines.
Many thanks. Out of all the loco's at this particular gala it had to be the deltic I had the cab ride in. The sound from one of these on the mainline from in the cab must be excellent when fully unleashed.
A very enjoyable day. It's rare that I travel on the train so to have a ride on the train and then in the cab was a real treat for me. Glad you enjoyed watching Trev and thanks for watching - Hayden.
Sorry it's taken so long Chris. I didn't want to upload a whole bunch of video's in one go, plus I found a mistake in the video last night, hence why I went to plan B! I did have a good chat with all the guys before and after filming this, a great bunch of people. One of them used to live near Leicester and another came from Wellingborough believe it or not! Lol Unlike me though you did get a great uninterrupted view of the whole line from the cab.
Just got round to watching this Hayden, having had it in my watch later folder for a while. Great video! I would love to do something similar myself, although if I had to choose just one diesel loco, it would have to be a 37 for me, 37003 would do nicely! Great to see the driver at the controls too. I assume from the conversation that the driver was from the NRM with a MNR 'pilotman' explaining the road to him?
Been waiting for this! Great recording and sound, especially as you had both engines running. Sounds like the banter continued from the journey outwards! That was probably the only thing I did wrong was not filming Melvyn at the controls of the 56.
Thanks Andy. It's gotta be a deltic for me, the 37 comes a close second though! The three guys that were all in the cab were from the Koyli Group as they had it written on their high vis jackets, plus the guy giving information wasn't an MNR driver so I'm unsure on that one :/
It didn't take that long considering how long the video is. We did a lot of filming that day though! Small world! I was surprised how bad the visibility is from the Deltic cab, almost like being on a steam engine in contrast to the large windows on 56097 - not sure I'd have been able to film on the tripod in 55002!
This loco was built a half mile from where I'm sitting....The Vulcan Foundry Newton-le-Willows which is now a newly built housing estate. The works was completely demolished some years ago
Yes, the visibility wasn't that good. You wouldn't have been able to use your tripod as the only raised sections of the floor were where the seats were! A footplate ride on a steam engine is next on my list!
I was lucky enough to prep one of Alycidons engines and start said engine from the engine room, with no ear protection :) then the second was started, what a racket, but worth every minute of it.
At the time the Mid Norfolk Railway were raising funds for building running sheds at Dereham. They offered a series of cab rides in return for donations. My friend Chris recorded the journey in the other direction in Class 56, 56097. Here's his video if you wanted to see it - ruclips.net/video/_chxN0MgXxw/видео.html

Thanks. The diesel gala's that the MNR have a very good. I've being going to them since 2011 and always have an excellent day out.
Great video, nice to see a cab ride going the other way!
Thanks for the video, you can beat a deltic but I do like a class 37 also. Great cab ride totally enjoyed it good to see inside the cab too!!😎🚃🚃🚃🇬🇧🇺🇦
Probably still one of my best moments to date when I got a cab ride in this deltic! Thanks for viewing! :)
Very nice, hopefully I might make it to one of these events next year if my University Exchange works out favorably

MARTIN JONES Sounded excellent hearing the engines from within the cab.
Thanks. One of the best lines in Norfolk this is if you find yourself in this area.

Hi Hayden wow that was a good day out train ride , cab ride I bet you enjoyed your day.I know I did Cheers Trev

lovely stuff - wonderful treat for you
Thanks Ian. Thought I would send you the link to this video as I thought you would enjoy this one. The sound was wonderful from inside the cab.
Thanks. Yes, me and Chris had it pretty well covered!

I always loved your videos but I really enjoy the older ones with this intro and intro music. It's so very British, at least this yank thinks so 😋
I'm glad you enjoy watching my videos, thanks. Haha, sadly I had to change the music due to copyright issues on youtube.
@@HomeMoviePerson copyright issues? Is that a real tune used elsewhere ? If so, from where. That sucks

Much of our engineering seems to have sadly become a thing of the past, such a shame....
Thanks for the tip, I'll make sure to get myself out that way

Excerlent well done
The driver on this is Stuart Page he's a dps and koyli man. He's on twitter but not facebook!
Thanks for the info :)

I bet that's a sound you'll never forget then!
HomeMoviePerson Mekay says "pardon?"
That Stuart Page gets everywhere lol ☺
Lucky, nice one jealous :)

@@HomeMoviePerson Very nice got to drive a 31 one though and get cab ride sort of so nice 😀
I bet it's like Driving a sports car and not being able to put your foot Down!
It certainly gave the impression that that was the case when watching the driver!
