This is the only Rickenbacker bass recording that I've heard that actually has Geddy's tone besides Geddy's. Whether it's your setup or your fingers or the magic combination of both... bravo!
To me, “Hemispheres” is one of the best mixed and mastered albums of all time - so much dynamic range. Before the loudness wars ruined everything. How do you remember so many notes so perfectly? That was awesome!
i agree 100 percent HEMISPHERES is the best rock album ever recorded ~ it took me an entire summer to perfect this flawlessly on the drums ( my kit mirrors pearts kit at the time they recorded this album) if a musician can play this album he / she can play anything!!!
You, good sir, NAILED IT! As if there was any doubt! Your tone. Your technique. Down to the exacting 1/16 note accents. On top of all that...my favorite Rush song!
Your playing is just out of this world..!!! That bass is a beast… I love how it almost looks like the discoloration is in a clear coat.. very cool..had a question?? I’m sure your busy but wanted to ask?? Do you get into playing any slap style bass?? Not a big deal was just wondering..hope all is well..
Always preferred Geddys playing but Chris Squires tone. I can really hear the difference the toaster pickup makes. Much sweeter tone but still just as punchy as the high gain. The neck high gain pickup on your White 74 Rickenbacker 4001 (which is gorgeous by the way ) is great but not nearly as pleasing to the ears as that toaster. The toaster pickup balances that glorious raunchiness Rickenbackers are known for perfectly. Squires Horseshoe was had a weaker output and a good chunk of his tone was that toaster pickup. It’s like you finally answered the age old 4001 question... What would it sound like if you combined Geddy Lee’s and Chris Squire’s tone ? It would sound like your 72 4001 in this video. Awesome video you gained a subscriber
Love that growling Rick, i knda wish Geddy went back to it. Nice round middle, not trebly, true bass sound. This Rick is a bit rounder, softer then others I believe
They Could do the whole Hemispheres album -- a sadly neglected album in Rush's catalog but big with deep fans. Maybe it has to do with the length of the first song? : )
I swear you make me so mad sometimes, lol. You make it look so easy. Awesome job as usual! So Tim what's going on with the two RBIs and the Ged-2112 in the rack? Are you running through all 3 at the same time for this? I'd love to hear about that setup.
@@TimStarace ah, alright. I recently bought an RPM and VTBass preamp, and the drive function is just woolly, with little definition. Is there a particular setting you use on your RPM?
@@TimStarace oh cool! If you don't mind, where do you get the bassless tracks? on youtube or a separate website? Very awesome covers by the way! Thanks!

I could watch these all day. Actually, I do watch these all day.
Lol
By far my favorite Rush album. Hemispheres to me is the perfect album.

Lots of reps!

Superb & what a killer sound.
You have Mastered that Bassline. Flawless playing. Total Feeling! Brilliant, Tim!
I swear you get better every video, amazing job as usual, Tim!
best song / best album / best band of all time - nice job with the Ricky - you overflow with talent
Perfect. That tone!
Joy to watch as usual and killer bass tone 👍

You put on a clinic. Awesome..and yeah, the tone is spot on...well done.
That new bass is a beauty
yes -- you should do a rig rundown
@@STEVENGOSNEY He has, God it cost me a small fortune! LOL.
@@topfuel72 ha! I will find it ... thx!
Excellent, like allways. Great job. I love Hemispheres!!!
Epic playing Tim! The bass sounds darker than the other Ricks and really sits nicely into the track.
More "Ass"
Sounds amazing! And a really nice Rick, I love it! :)
So good!
I'm just now seeing this? That 72 sounds amazing.
AWESOME!
Awesome job on the Rush song. And love the bass tone. 🤘🤘
Awesome as always!
That was awesome Tim...Geddy would be proud!
Absolutely flawless!
Incredible song; flawless playing; gorgeous tone; stunning bass; cool guy - what more could you ask for?
Hello from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Very good the bassist, the channel and the band. Big hug! (I hope the translator has done a good job ☺👍)
Hemispheres is absolute perfection. Killer playing, man!
Outstanding! As always...
Great!
Great job as always Tim! Man that 72 sounds so good!
Sigh...you just can’t beat the “clang” of that Rick! Another great video, Tim!
Love it!

Awesome execution as usual!!. New Ric is really nice but noticed its not as powerful as your other rics. Great job bro.

Thanks buddy I needed that. Too much politics. That sound is awesome my friend. Cheer

It would be cool to do a YYNOT Circumstances Tour when things get going again!

Also, would you make a Rick comparison video?
dam dude your good.
This epic
How does that Ric bass compare with your others. It sounds warmer to me and so much like how i remember Geddy's from late 70's / early 80's era.

I swear you make me so mad sometimes, lol. You make it look so easy. Awesome job as usual!
So Tim what's going on with the two RBIs and the Ged-2112 in the rack? Are you running through all 3 at the same time for this?
I'd love to hear about that setup.
Hi! Thats a Tech 21 NYC SansAmp RBI and RPM. I have a full rig rundown vid here on my channel.
Have oppt to buy a '72.....what are your thoughts on the sound thu the RBI/RPM or the DI2112?
Playing through a GED-2112 here. DI-2112 or RPM would be equally awesome, as would an RBI
is that a new bass?
Do you use any sort of cabinet simulators or IR?
I only use SansAmps, which have baked in emulation.
@@TimStarace ah, alright. I recently bought an RPM and VTBass preamp, and the drive function is just woolly, with little definition. Is there a particular setting you use on your RPM?
Anyone know where he gets his backing tracks from? Or is the normal song? Thanks.
This is the actual album track. I just have my bass higher in the mix, but I do try to use bassless tracks when I can find them.
@@TimStarace oh cool! If you don't mind, where do you get the bassless tracks? on youtube or a separate website? Very awesome covers by the way! Thanks!
this one’s lookin a lil more beat up than the others, but still sounds awesome!
You can tell that's an old Ric for sure
