Tracing family stories back 14 generations is a significant feat! How many generations back have you been able to trace your family history?
I keep getting road blocks
Only to great-grandparents. Sad that civil war and colonialism means that I probably will not be able to get much further back than that :/
@@AnRuixuan I got some road blocks to but I don’t give up
To 980 but because my great grandma x38 was the queen of Norway so that line was well documented.
It is a significant feat. I have reached the 1600s in many family lines, a few in the 1200s and two in the 1100s, with those last two being 23 generations. In some other family lines I have only reached the late 1800s, that's just how it goes sometimes.
How sad they were not happy being Chinese, even sadder that they lived in a society that made them feel that way.
Self hating and raycyst and then they always get with w hyte
I loved laura's reporting on vanguard. It was truly cutting edge. Its sad but understandable that she basically disappeared after she returned after she was caught illegally trespassing in the dprk.
Omg, they have the same voice!
So true!
4:04... !!!!!!!!!
The 6th X Grandfather
who saved an entire village...
That story is outrageous!
We couldn't agree more!
I am happy to see Lisa Ling and her sister got to learn more about their family
Hongkong was a complete dead zone when the Japanese invaded. It didn’t matter whether you were Chinese, Korean, manchu, Macanese, Portuguese, German, Dutch, or British. Everybody was in the same boat
Back to the late 1500s on some lines, and no further than 1840 on other lines. I had a cousin on Finding Your Roots, although our shared lineage wasn’t discussed much on his show, Edward Norton and I share 4x great grandparents whose lineages lead back to William and Mary Brewster and William Bradford of the Mayflower.
My daughter-in-law is from Beijing China and knows very little about her lineage.
My Mayflower ancestor was Mary (Chilton) Winslow. She was the first woman to step ashore at Plymouth Rock.
Same side of the family, am ancestor was a fille de roi in Quebec.
Alot is known, but some needs verification.
That's amazing to hear! We're glad you had such success with some lines, and hope that more becomes clear in time for you and your daughter-in-law's lineage!
Amazing story and great reaction
I grew up Chinese in Australia. I loved that I was Chinese. A lot had to do with my parents. It helped that my friends were so interested and curious about Chinese culture too.
The Clinton photos are priceless
I don’t care she’s Asian she’s just an amazingly professional and brave reporter
Her Ancestor The Granma lived through the Whirlwinds of History.
A Story of pure survival.
To *keep* *the* *children* *alive*
I never did hear how they got Laura out of North Korea.
google her. 🌸
It's crazy how much Laura sounds like Lisa.. lol
1630on my mother's father's family and 1740 on her mother,my father is much more recent 1880s and 1890s.
That's great, David! It sounds like you have had some great success researching your family history.
Lol she’s married a white dude
Sending support here
❤❤❤
It's funny how the ones that always say they are very proud of their heritage/race, end up marrying outside the heritage/race?
Oh, Connie Chung was chopped liver?
All that just to learn that your ancestor was a failure
Comment
I think Connie Chung was a much better known Asian in the media. Lost all respect for this woman when she irresponsibly went into North Korea illegally, creating an international incident and using up countless hours of diplomats’s time and “currency”, merely because her sister was a celebrity.
Boooooooo
