If you add crackers before boiling they become sort of like the dumplings in chicken n' dumplings. Not bad! Watch us eat it here & chat: ruclips.net/video/P_fX1hMuo2Y/видео.html
You have really hit on such a great idea with these no speech cooking sessions… they are so soothing. I watch and enjoy all your shows, but these are my hands down favorites!
One of my favorite things about these videos is the way Justine wears this little Mona Lisa smile the entire time. You just exude contentment with everything you do and it's utterly charming. I only discovered your channel recently but I am enjoying it immensely.
Seeing your smile of satisfaction after the first taste was the best. That was truly cute. Why can't we all be humble and happy with things like this anymore? Thanks for the recipes, keep them coming!
Found this today. ❤ This video stuck and emotional chord with me. Have been going through quite a lot the last couple of years. My soul need deep healing and something about how simple this video was created hit me. Thinking of times when my parents used to cook together, and our family was one. These days are rough…
Love the crackers as a thickener. For anyone trying this, once you make soup this way, your kids will refuse to eat canned soup ever again. I also put in carrots, celery, and peas to sneak in more veggies
I put celery into stir fry the other day, I was just using it up, it very overlooked. Some people dislike it but it does give a crunch. Even when tender after cooking, it retains shape.
Lady Justine - we're on the same page because this past Monday & Tuesday we actually had 2 solid days of rain here in Southern California! So Monday I made a big pot of homemade chicken soup with a tomato base...delicious! Baby carrots, celery, onion & a handful of french green beans & a sprinkling of peas. Hot, hearty & comforting! Love the peaceful quiet nature of your cooking videos! You look so very Tasha Tudor!
I don't even have to watch the video to know that I'll love it and it is great!! I will watch it now though!! Happy Thanksgiving!!! 😊😊😊. Michael New York.
It's very fascinating to me that old recipes like this really take for granted what they assume others will know about cooking, measuring, what order to do things in, cooking temperatures... There was a connection with the cooking process that many just don't have in modern life. Those that still have this food connection are admired greatly, for good reason. Those are the people you want on your team in the case of the collapse of modern society/the Zombie Apocalypse/whatever you want to call it!
Wow how nice such a wonderful way to cook in the days gone bye. Still keeping these old recipes alive. Thanks for sharing and greetings from Beth and Simon 😍🙋👍
Yes I love potatoes, and the carrots. A lot of the time, a roast chicken done on sunday, the left over bits of chicken and bones and skin (removed after boiling) and you'd get two meals for the family out of one 🐔 chicken.🇮🇪☘
I so wish I could live in a cabin like the “home” you guys have for yourselves! It’s so cozy and inviting and helps mellow me during these stressful times! Cooking on the hearth is a skill you seem to have mastered!! Good job and the soup looks delish. 🥰
I love watching cook. This soup looks really good and now I want it! I would never have thought to put in nutmeg. Going to make it this weekend. Heading over to watch Chew and Chat!
I’ve become hooked on your channels. You and Ron are brilliant. I wish I had the funds/ talent to live on a small holding, built by hand. Sadly, I’m a Scottish council tenant with a past of substance misuse. I’m clean but all I’m ever going to have is dreams from here on out. I’m living vicariously through you guys ❤xx
God, this makes me really crave chicken and dumplings! I prefer mine to be more soupy than mushy, but it’s amazing either way. I’m sure your chicken and rice is delicious!
What a delicious looking soup! Thank you for sharing how you prepared it! Just made chicken noodle soup this morning, so good, especially on a cold day! Have a great weekend!
Just watching you cook is amazing and seeing you doing the household duties gives us a glimpse into the past of what our ancestors had to do and maintain a household/ farm and still have time for dessert. And with today's technology we can't even get one days work done. What happened.
Hi Justine! So happy you just uploaded, I’m always looking forward to your videos🥰 I just want to let you know that I treat your videos as ASMR and I absolutely need to watch at least 5 of your videos before I go to bed 😅 The cooking sounds are intoxicating and kinda hoping you’d upload longer videos with more kitchen sounds, if not that’s perfectly fine too since I’m content with how frequent you have been uploading recently ❤ Thanks Justine & Ron!
What a perfect time to recreate this delicious looking recipe just in time for this cold snap we're about to get here in the midwest! Especially here in northern Illinois! We've been having such unseasonably warm weather here lately but its about to get bitter cold here within the next day or two!!! Absolute perfect time for homemade chicken and rice soup! Thank you Justine!! 🐔
Love your cooking as always. it is so amazing how our ancestors cook their meal.....This will be so good during raining and winter too. By the way i only saw 3 chickens in front of your house. I wonder what happen to the rest coz i remember you have lots of chicks. Hope they are all okey.
So I Love this channel and have been watching for a while and soo wish you had a version with a voice over explaining things so I could listen while I work. ( I clean houses but love old timey cooking.
I always knew that Early Americans needed a lot of wood to get through the winter. It never occurred to me how much wood was needed for meal preparation. Do you know how much total wood you use in a year and how much is heat and how much is food prep? I enjoy all the videos. Thanks for sharing.
AS others have said, this is a very relaxing type of video to watch. Thanks for making them. I'm guessing that it's more pleasant to be cooking in the cabin in late fall than mid summer.
Since my daughters began watching this we have actually cooked some things on our firepit outside , l wish we had a fireplace at this point , l am sure if we move , one will be a necessity. Great post , looked delicious.
Love the cooking, especially the pots and pans. You are one lucky girl keep up the great work! P. S.: congrats to you and Ron on your recent marriage! 🥂
That’s the beauty of chicken soups. Growing up I used to think it was complicated. Had I known it was easy, I would have been making this since before HS.
If you add crackers before boiling they become sort of like the dumplings in chicken n' dumplings. Not bad! Watch us eat it here & chat: ruclips.net/video/P_fX1hMuo2Y/видео.html
Eh, I prefer my crackers crunchy in my chicken soup
What crackers did you use?
@@Redghost_1206 Add more when it's done.
@@DavidVitrano homemade 😁
@@DavidVitrano I can't. Cuz my bowl will over flow with crackers.😂

Same here , I love all of your and Ron’s videos but my favorite are these cooking videos. ❤
Very Nice... keep up the good work! wishes from Sri Lanka-Village food.. ❤
Right on...!
Exactly,,,,,,,nothing like listening to all the preparation and cooking without the chatter....very soothing!
Love your videos!
I saw the chickens at the very beginning and had the fleeting thought of “wow, we’re REALLY starting from scratch…” 😅
Hahaha same
I know lol! Seriously thought we were going to see some plucking of the feathers
One of my favorite things about these videos is the way Justine wears this little Mona Lisa smile the entire time. You just exude contentment with everything you do and it's utterly charming. I only discovered your channel recently but I am enjoying it immensely.
Actually I just roasted a pumpkin and plan to make a pumpkin and sausage soup tomorrow with it.
Stuck home sick. Don't know why watching me feels better when I can't even eat it, but I love these videos so much.
(>")>🍜
Feel better soon
My kid is sick to.
Get well soon!
Chicken soup is one of the best things you can eat when your sick, it's a soothing home remedy, been around for years, hope you feel better soon 😊
Kinda like me. I'm in hospice having palliative care for stage 3 MM. I feel the same, just torturing myself watching all the good meals i'll not cook.
That's funny! Now I'm stuck at home sick today, doing the same thing you were 2 weeks ago! ❤️✝️🤗
Seeing your smile of satisfaction after the first taste was the best. That was truly cute. Why can't we all be humble and happy with things like this anymore? Thanks for the recipes, keep them coming!
I love your comment! 🤗✝️❤️ We should all practice humility & gratitude for the little blessings in life & toward others.

@@harmonysugarmaplee omg!! So true.

I love your videos on both YT channels. It’s such a nice change from our everyday life and gives us a good look at how people lived. Very refreshing.
What’s the other channel called? 🫶🏽
@@kyla2423 , it’s called Frontier Patriot. That’s where she and Ron (her fiancé) eat the food that she cooks on this channel.
