hi at the beginning I used a Hobie 16 spi. I replaced this with an FX one spi. this works significantly better. it is not much bigger than the old one but it has a more effective cut. the mast is completely made of aluminum. the comparison between the sails can be seen in another video. ruclips.net/video/hq6gFaXC-Ps/видео.html
Thanks, I saw the video with spi of hc17 and Fxone. I've a 17turbo (with jib) and the mast with comptip top. So I'd like to put a spi, but I don't know what's tre right choice. On my mast there's a block on top with a line on stainless steel as the hc16spi. Tell me please what you think about it. Cheers
My solution with the spi boom I saw with the American Hobie 17 sailor is decreasing the length of the connection to the drivers in the front he took 8 cm of I think and put the 8 cm on the top side of the boom so the spinakker will have more space.for entering into the snuffer bag. I didnot do that with my Hobie 17 configuration. yet. But in Augustus, I had a big problem with the mast (verstaging) connections to the sides. I ript mij driver the top part complete of for nearly 80 cm wide. Sailing the mainsail and the genakker was too much when I hit a wave on the lower side (head in,) Normal I release the tension on the main but the mast was already in a 45 degree angle. I Have increased the metal tubes on de sides witch connects to the mast wire, from 12 cm each now to 40 cm each. I order to increase the surface. My drive was 100% broken wilth a hole of 1 meter by 35 cm at the top side, so I had to buy a new (old ) one.
Peter Jansen Thank you for your ideas. I talked to my sailmaker, who is also a Nacra dealer. We will replace the spreader with two long wires that open up in a short. So the pressure keht only up and not in the middle of the hulls. So I save up to four kilograms. Vg Oliver.
I think you should keep the speader, when I sail on see with big waves and you do nont have been fixed front with a spreader of fixed beam you break the drivers form the mast beam because the waves make the drivers go an opposite way. I found the video regarding the bow spreader ruclips.net/video/v7y0LARec-U/видео.html Good luck
Melde Dich bitte.
Pressung means press sleeve, and slide means sled ;-). Sorry for my english. The Cleat I mean @ 11:05 is the www.spinlock.co.uk/de/categories/cleats-1/product_groups/pxr-cam-cleat

Hi Peter, was it a COMPTIP-Mast?

No it was a fixed mast because you cannot use a flex top mast (the old hobie 17 mast) when you sail a genakker
That's unbelievable that the aluminum mast breaks at this point. Maybe you put a picture or a short video on youtube? Best regards Oliver
