2:50 for the test
It looks like the MFP composition caked around the top of the device, above the end of the fuse. The fuse couldn’t pass fire to the main explosive charge, you just need to shake and knock it against something to break up the caked charge before deploying.
Dude That is a twist and pull. Like a U.K. grenade
No tf it isnt
So you can't unlatch the safety catch by just twisting the ring pull?
Pretty close to the real thing. But about 75 decibels less sound and with about half as much flash. Real flashbangs are deafening and disorienting...these are more like a book falling off a shelf. A little startling if not expecting it, but not loud enough.
The MK-141 and GC80 Thermobaric NFDDs, have an estimated decibel range of 160 - 170 at 12ft. Using electric blast overpressure gauges, to directly measure the generated shock pressure in air and then converted into decibels. The M13 Thermobaric, approximate sound output of 125 db at 16ft measured with the Pulsar Nova Model 42 (Class 2). Most conventional NFDDs (flash powder based) have a decibel rating of 175 at 5ft, with every doubling in the distance from a noise source it will reduce the noise pressure level by 6db.
@@ProCat4displaysPlus big difference between 160 -170 decibels and 125. 125 is about as loud as a clap, which is not deafening. 170 to 190 (real flash bangs) are as loud as a shotgun going off in doors. These might work for Airsoft training but in no way shape or form could these be used as a civilian alternative to real flash bangs.
@@realeyesrealize388 I never insinuated you could use them as a alternative to operational flashbangs, they are simulation devices and should be used as intended. Flashbangs are definitely louder than a 12 gauge going off in a room, you still get the effects of a flashbang in the adjacent rooms, you don’t get the same effects with a shotgun. I was just showing the difference between operational Thermobaric stun grenades and training ones, because they function differently to conventional flashbangs (stun grenades) and adding information on how decibels higher than 143 are recorded and that distance is also important on the effectiveness. This is why flashbangs are measured at 5ft (1.5m) That’s the most utilised range and the safety of the operator is also important, that’s why most flashbang are rated at 175db or under @ 5ft, hearing protection is not that good and we are limited to the amount of flashbangs we can use to minimise exposure. Obviously operational NFDDs are louder than training devices, and the loudest clap was officially recorded at 113dbA @ 1.5 metres in a controlled room, by Alastair Galpin NZ in 2008, and a unverified claim of 119dbA by Italo Vegliante Italy in 2016 on a noisy street.
75db is a huuuuuuge difference
He tryna blame that first throw on mass 😂😂😂
They actually are hard to throw because it is hollow so it flies all over the place. Imagine trying to throw a toilet paper tube. Doesn't matter how hard you throw it, it still goes all over the place.
I agree with you @DaveSmith but he still threw it like a pussy. Lol
Great review. Thank you.
Found the part about leaving our training area clean very helpful lol😅
This video provided some much needed information and entertainment 🤣
You gatta twist the loop first. It pops the safety then pull and toss
Sweet shoulder patch! Dud rate is a little disappointing. Wonder if there's any good way to weigh these down a bit in order to make them a little easier to throw
This is my second test with them. The 1st test was not filmed but the results we the same. 1 in 3 dud. However it’s superior to a Thunder B so there is definitely a plus to them.
Pegasus Tests at every Walmart in the golf section of sporting goods you can get a flat roll of adhesive backed lead tape. You could precisely weigh it down
Slick edit @2:54
Flashbang: BOOM!
Flashbang simulator: pop
Tactical Gaming Innovation grenades are the only way to go. Some of their products can't be bought in the US though due to the fuse. ATF B.S.
What ones
@@markjohnston6736 I'm not sure what you're asking. The one's you can buy or not? I personally like the Bb frag grenades m67, I've heard that some of the rockets and launceable grenades are/ were banned.
In 2023 they have jumped to the $35-$45 range for a single flashbang, neat but too expensive to invest in, that money is better spent on ammo.
Hmmm that's interesting. Seems like it can be useful.
Nope
What's the procedure for dealing with a dud? Wait 30 minutes then soak in water overnight?
I would BIP it.
5:50. Houston we have a problem.
What is the nec content for iwa m13
Buddy you’re meant to turn the ring first that undoes the safety pin that should be easy
Thanks for the tip. Will try it on the next batch I get.
Oh thank you for the reply
It's a very reliable safety...twist clockwise or counterclockwise depending on which hand you throw with and that catch will disengage allowing the pin to slide out. I think thr ATF had something to do with why the initiator fires immediately once the spoon pops, it's not the standard delay with a trail like you find in the 201 or 228 fuzes found in m18smoke or standard flashbangs. Probably to discourage any type of alteration into a regulated destructive device.
Do you know if these are still sold? I couldn’t find them on there website
I have not been able to find any for sale for about a year.
IWA says there are going to be new products listed in the near future...hopefully that includes the m13 thermabaric grenades and m11 multibang flashbang
@@scottplagmann3411 Thanks for the heads up!
@@PegasusTests never hurts to send them an email..just to affirm how much they are in demand. Their 37mm flashbang and long range smoke rounds are second to none just like the standard manual grenades
@@PegasusTests btw...have you seen the new quick deploy 37mm carriers they added recently? Nice to have a tactical carrier actually fitted to 37mm as opposed to slip n slide 40mm gear.
This dudes hilarious in the office.
You mums office.
A little late but do you think these could be practical for militia use as for training
They could but they will be hard on your budget. I would suggest giving the FBG 6 a try.
@Tim A militia is not the military, they are two separate things. A militia is a NGO, the purposes being a check on government so they don't have exclusive physical power that would allow them to easily transition into a dictatorship.
Also if you have ever joined any branch of the military you would know that joining doesn't mean you are going to train on this stuff. Contrary to what the general public thinks, most of the military is not oriented for combative occupations since it takes a great deal of logistics to support the operations of a few fighters.
I can’t find TSLR, can someone post a link?
He meant TLSFX
Dude i cant find these anywhere. Do they not sell them anymore?
IWA International, on a Instagram post said they should be getting the M11 Multi-bang and the M13 Thermobaric, back in stock next month hopefully before Christmas. The M10 BALL, M12 Distraction and M14 smoke, are in stock at the moment.
What are the decibels on these?
124db
Are they real flashbangs ?
No
That's pathetic....$30 dollar M80 firework....go ahead waste your money. People shoot with suppressors on their rifles with no hearing protection at 125 decibels. Useless
If those people can afford the $200 stamp for a suppressor then I doubt the $30 per flashbang simulator is much of a holdup.
Do they expire?
I am not sure. I have expended them almost as fast as I acquired them.
Most explosive devices have a 5 year Shelf life from manufacturing date, if stored correctly can be operational for years after the expire date.
So what's the accepted practice for safely carrying these things, just out of curiosity? Of course appropriate pouches are a good idea - one with a top that keeps the pull ring completely covered so it wouldn't get snagged while also being snug enough to hold the safety lever against the grenade body so even if the pin was pulled it wouldn't go off.
But how about when you're about to deploy it and you're removing it from the pouch? With gloves and a vest with all sorts of stuff hanging off it and rifle I could imagine somebody reaching for a grenade too quickly and snagging the ring or fumbling it.
Of course ham-handing one of these things and having it go off at your feet wouldn't be the end of the world, but there are people out there who work with the real stuff who are four pounds of pressure and three seconds away between living and turning yourself into goulash - do military folk tape up the pin lightly so it isn't wagging around begging to get snagged, or rubber-band the safety lever for some extra security to prevent from activating a grenade in the confusion of combat?
Tape the spoon
Best to carry in a sized pouch that contains body and spoon.
Taping the spoon or pin is something you don't want to deal with when every second counts. IWA put a lot of thought into their pullpin design, it is not going to come out till you manually rotate the loop and disengage that hook.
Flashbangs are typically premeditated, they aren't deployed instantly like in video games, so you have all the time in the world to prep one. They are often used just before the point of no return when you have to commit to a raid. Real flashbangs have 3 safeties, a secondary pin which blocks the primer which is removed after taking from storage, a safety clip which holds the spoon down which is pressed off with the thumb, and a confidence clip which holds the pin in place and so the ring has to be rotated before it can pull out. The last two safeties can be undone moments before throwing the grenade as they are fast to disable.
@2:48 he throws it
Lol homie threw it like a toddler.
Hey, how you doing, buddy? I'm into guns. I love guns. I have AR-15 you name it? I was checking out Can any citizen buy this in eBay? Or anywhere or do you need a level license?
spook
your going to instruct us when you cant even read the instructions? thumbs down and i'm out.
Disappointing
I hate these things.
