- I go over what held me back from installing a cab and why I'm installing one now. I summarize the installation process for a Curtis Industries Cab and what options are out there.
curtisindustri...
I will probably not opt for a cab but I enjoyed seeing this. After seeing this I might change my mind.
Congrats on your new cab
I also have a Curtis advantage cab
Great upgrade
Very nice. Every snow storm I think about a cab. Here in Nova Scotia Canada, I can only imagine the shipping.
We absolutely love the Curtis Cab on our John Deere. Installation was much easier than I expected. The heater is very comfortable in these cold winter months. Great company and products. You’re going to wonder what you ever did without the cab! :) - Chad
I did the origional tractor cab with the glass windshield on my 2019 1025r. But I only use it for snowblowing duty in the winter in northern Canada. Very happy with it as it's easy enough to remove come spring time. Just being out of the window and blowing snow is well worth it for me. It came with an electric heater that I have never bothered to install.
so you are saying it come with a electric heater and you live in Canada and you didn't install the heater? if i live in Canada i sure be installing that heater just saying .
Does it come off one piece? Or in pieces? Surprised to hear it comes off pretty easily. The idea of adding cab for winter only is nice.
I have same cab, I live in Saskatchewan and wish I bought a better cab that sealed better. Does help with the wind and not being covered in snow as I use snow blower. I found the electric heater does not give off much heat. Direct wiring so it got all power it needed and I could barely feel any heat. Going to install a cab heater with a radiator to get proper heat.
Well done! Look forward to seeing the future videos & seeing it in action! Kudos to you & Curtis Cab for working together for those of us looking for a cab! That speaks Volumes!!
Congrats buddy, Artillian/Kurtis is a fantastic company all the way around. Glad you finally have a cab now and can stay warm. Looks like a really nice fit on the 1 series. Stay safe 👍🏻
Nicely done and well explained. I'll be very interested in seeing the backhoe being used with the cab on.
I would love to see that too. So far that is the only thing that is keeping me from putting a cab on.
That’s a great Cab, Thank you for sharing this in a Video with us. Happy New Year 2023 🎉
Wow, I love it! Now I want one.
Tom, I really appreciate your videos and attention to detail. Another great job showing the advantages of the Curtis cab. I have experienced the winters in Ohio myself and so I know you will really enjoy this cab and the warmth it will provide. I am very happy for you and look forward to seeing more of the 1025R in action with the cab on now. Thanks for your hard work in bringing us all of this good content.
Thank you!
I'm have the same issue you had. If I get a cab I would need a building to store the tractor. So for now I wear warm winter gear when moving snow.
Love to listen to you teach!
Cozy! Thought about a cab for mine, but living out here in the anti snow belt of Lorain county I stay in the barn most of the time. :)
I'm in Medina County. We should meet for coffee on our tractors lol
Happy New Year sir! That's a beauty and affordable cab! Please feel free to let Curtis Cab folks know that after watching this, if I ever get around to building a storage area for my lil Jonny, with a taller door, It will be a Curtis Cab for me. Thanks for sharing!
Looks like a real nice cab. Long term will tell the true story. Happy New Year. Looking forward to see what's going on down south.
Good job and congrats on your new cab. It definitely make working in the winter much more comfortable.
Good idea having a cab. For years I had a cabless kubota. When I changed the tractor,i went for the full factory cab with air con etc. Best thing I ever did, never get wet , cold or hot again, or dusty! You will never look back. We dont have much choice here in the UK for aftermarket cabs so you have done well
Cab would be a nice addition. Good video and advertisement for Curtis, glad they worked a deal for you.
Thanks 👍
Wow I like that cab! Love watching! Happy new year to you and your family!
I clicked on YT and your Video came up. I know it`s 2 years ago...
When you installed the piece that bolts to the floor. Seems like the flat plate should go under the rubber floor mat.
Looks like a nice cab.
My JD is a 1984 950. Only way to get a cab for it, is a tractor JY.
Other Tractor is a Kioti CK30 12 yrs old or close to it. was looking at cabs, and around $7K.
Use to run equipment, (much larger) and all had cabs. Was spoiled.
Now running these little Tinker Toy Tractors...LOL
absolutely love that cab, and you did a awesome job and amazing video.
I have the cab with the metal doors and rear glass window. It works great for the the cold snowy weather. I'll spend all day in it wearing just a t-shirt and jeans. Only problem is low speed on blower quit. Wiper blade can spin on arm. And my roof doesn't overhang the sides. I'll get water drips on top seal of windshield sometimes from melting snow on roof during snowblowing. Been very happy with it. Works good for me in 0° weather. Thanks for the awesome video.
Great choice on cabs and I too would have chosen the middle option of the 3 that they offered. You explained the thought process and basic installation very well. Thank you for sharing Sir.
Excellent video, Tom. I have been recently interested in cabs and have been doing a lot of the same research that you did. It was nice to hear your perspective as well. It sounds like Curtis Cab is a good company too.
Bought this cab assembled by my JD dealer. Love it.
Looks well built! The heater package is well thought out and engineered for larger cabs as well. I bet a variable speed fan control would keep you from peeling layers.
Nice cab, if the factory cab was backhoe compatible as delivered I would have been tempted. Curtis does a good job filling that gap in the market. For now my 1025r tlb is cab-less.
Very nice video! Never heard of that cab before (but I saw it in some video without knowing the brand...) But now that I saw your vidéo, I know who they are now! Excellent job! Thanks for your work! Have a nice day.
Excellent install video, sounds like it's worthwhile to chat with them prior to purchase. Stay warm! 🌴🏝🍻
Tom a very well done video on the new cab install. As you always do, you provide a very detailed explanation with a great visual follow up. Thank you for that. That cab would look great on my 1025r also. I’m in CT and MA is not too far for me to the Curtis plant. Hmmmmm ?? It’s getting colder here real quick. Good luck and thanks for sharing the video, John
Really would like to see the backhoe on there with the cab and in use to see it work before I purchase this
Me too
Be about a month before I get the backhoe on.
You’ll be nice and toasty in the new cab, congrats 👍🏻
Wow! Nice looking cab. I know you will really like it in the wintertime. I think you made a excellent choice.
Thanks 👍
Nice vid. No need for a cab here but it is fun to watch. Hope you have power tools by now, watching all that manual wrenching made my arthritis hurt.😀
Nice job! The price is very reasonable in my opinion. I have a JD 970 and no one has a Cab for it since it's a 1991. I bought it new and it has been a great tractor 🚜.
Thank you for the informative video. You did well showing how to install the cab. I’ve been looking at cabs for my B 2601 Kubota and this one could be the answer for me. It looks like I may be able to afford one. Thank you, Wayne from Wisconsin.
Thanks for watching!
Very nice Tom you will appreciate that every time it snows or even if you get caught in the rain. Nice job and looks like the quality is very good on the curtis unit
I just bought a used 1025r with Loader, cab (like yours) with a 47" 2 stage snow blower. It has 390 hours on it. Bought it all for $22,500 from a local lawn care business. Really looking forward to using it this winter. I cannot quite tell if mine has heat or not? It has a dial in headliner with a switch, blue for cold and red for heat? I am assuming it is working. I have not switched it to heat yet as it has been nearly 90 outside for last few weeks. I have not watched your video yet. I will tune in and see what you have going on.
Well done .. looks good.. I have a small kioti tractor ... love the idea of a cab but with a backhoe on my tactor I would just want a cab for winter...
I have mixed emotions come summer. Hopefully removing everything but the roof and windshield will be ok. There were times I wanted a canopy so I'll get a taste of that.
I have the same cab one thing you might want to do is put some rear wheel spacers on if you are going to be on any hills because with mine it felt a little bit uneasy.
its been a few years but I think I put on 2 inch bora spacers
Yeah, I'm thinking of that the cab with is wider. May some rim guard too.
Yes, it was about $6,000 additional to the price of the tractor a couple years ago, I had a 2025R. I have since upgraded tractors and have heat and A/C now. The Mauser cab is more permanent type of cab. You remove the ROPS and the cab frame then becomes the ROPS. It was a pain in the butt to install, took me about a week to get it on. You have to remove the rear glass and sit on the bottom window frame to operate the backhoe, not comfortable, but at least it could still be used. 3039R is my tractor now, with larger backhoe on the rear. Much better tractor for work that I do.
You can get a hotter thermostat if it doesn't produce enough heat for the John Deere. This will warm things up slightly more. No too terribly expensive. I was able to operate mine with only a T-shirt and coat was hung up inside (rear right corner) where a hat or coat hook had come with the cab.
Would like to have a 3039r, but too much for my actual needs. It takes about 2 minutes after starting and it blowing warm air. Thanks for your input, Tom
The cab will be a great addition to your tractor.
Putting tab A into slot A can be daunting. Good job.
I’ve been thinking about purchasing the Curtis cab. I’d like to see you operating the backhoe with the cab. I use my backhoe frequently and it seems like it would be a really tight fit in the operator’s station.
Like to see that too. Hopefully we will see that soon
Should hooking the backhoe up in a month or so.
Really like the cab, congratulations. I've sat in a Mauser cab, net very roomy. At 5'10" and 200 pounds it seemed tiny, kinda like a shirt that's too small.
Nice looking cab, good value for the price, I would pick the same one. Can't use a cab on my 1025R, doing to much lawn aeration and landscaping around trees.
Is the top bent of your heater where the air comes out? If you’re worried about a fogging up window you could make up an air Deflector(like a floor air director in your home) to point on the windshield and could put it on just with Velcro.
I would call that an adult erector set. Nice. Thanks for video.
Might I suggest a set of Carlile versa turf tires . They are a world of difference over the r4 tires . I am plowing in 2wd vs 4wd with r4s. the ride is awesome as well. I have a 2305 with a hard side Curtis cab/ heat. It was a 4k option back in 2009 and from what I can tell , today it is around 6k. I think if I was to do it again i would like to try the Mauser cab. I installed 2 -12v fans from NAPA in the rear of the cab to help keep windshield clean. The blower on the heater does not move enough air to keep it clean unless they have made changes since I got mine I also installed led mini lite bar from strobes and more. What part of Ohio are you in. I'm up by Toledo.
Fantastic, thanks for your video's. I've seen them all.
Thanks for watching!
This is a very nice cab, you should stay very toasty this winter!
Very well-done analysis of this brand of cab. I'm looking to purchase a 2 series within the next 12 months and was not sold on the manufacturer options as I would rather put my $$ into the attachments. Another point for me would be working the tractor for a bit of time to see how it works without the cab and then moving to the cab if I find it would be beneficial.
I totally agree with getting your feet wet with just the tractor first.
Look at Don go! He's a natural in front of the camera! 😄
im surprised they did not design the support frames to go under the rubber mat to prevent rubbing the paint off also less give in the overall structure .....
Just my thoughts I am definitely going to get a cab
Wow, pretty good of Curtis to do that for you just because you have a YT channel. Some people just get the breaks i guess. Nothing ever happens like that, for me.
Now that you told everyone, other people will expect Curtis to do this, for them, now. I dont think i would have said anything about the deal you got in the video.
As for JD and a $7,000 cab, that`s why they`ll never sell me another JD. They`re out of their minds with their prices. Which is why i bought a Kubota this time.
I wanted to be upfront with everyone. I don't make a living off of YT like others, but I am at a point where I want to keep it cost neutral. Producing videos takes time, equipment, and money. If there is something I need and have to purchase that I would normally highlight in a video that helps me, and in that process it benefits a manufacturer, then I'm going to approach them.
@@ataleofthreecabins1025
Amen my friend, glad you could get one. Yeah i know how much it takes to do the videos, thats why i don`t do them. I don`t have the patients for it. Anyway, I tried to inquire direct thru their website about possibly buying a cab, but it wants me to buy it from a dealer. I feel the dealer as being the middle guy that doesn`t need to be involved. So at this point, i couldn`t get one from curtis. After seeing your pricing you mentioned, i wanted to try to get one, mainly because i cant afford 5 to 7 grand for a cab, and what you mentioned was surely ALOT cheaper route.
EDIT: I was able to find their phone number, so i`m going to call them direct and see where it goes.
Excellent choice, good for you!
WOW great alternative to a factory cab.
Very nice looking cab I like it 👌
Thanks, brother, GREAT video.
I installed a Plus cab onto a 2032r. There is a major issue with the door seals not staying on to the Plus cab doors as the velcro that holds on the vinyl door covering interferes with the door gasket material not being able to fully seat onto the door frame. I see that at about 19:10 into your video you happened to touch the rear part of the door gasket material and it appears to be loose. I have door gasket falling off of my doors, and actually when the doors were removed from the plastic shipping material, the gasket material was falling off. This is the problem I have encountered and am trying to work through this with Curtis.
The door gasket was loose. I feel I was the cause though. When I was unpacking everything the doors were package pretty tightly and I grabbed the first one by the weather stripping. It was still wrapped in that heavy felt and I was pulling pretty hard. I could tell I pulled a section loose. The second door I was more careful. I was just going to wait for the weather to warm up, put some adhesive on it with several bungees until it dries.
I just hear from Curtis yesterday that they are making a new set of doors for my cab and will QC them prior to shipping.
She looks good. Thanks for Sharing.
Nice cab! I'd like to have one like that for my eMax!
I could not see the bucket level er and moved it to the left side, because of front wiper and black out on window.
I had to do the same thing with my tractor
I would love to see a Point of View with the backhoe on and how easy it is to install with the cab now on, the whole process. Also is a rear wiper available for the glass version?
Yes, rear wiper is available. Working on installing the backhoe. Take care, Tom
My doors close hard and seem like you have to use alot of force. Any in depth videos on door install?
At first I needed a good slam to close them, but after awhile I didn't need to use as much force. I know since I installed the cab they changed there weatherstripping which might help in that manner.
I’ve always wanted one for my 2015 1025 R but would not pull the trigger, looks nice. Do you feel cramped inside and how tall are you?
6’2”. Not cramped at all.
@@ataleofthreecabins1025 thanks
Looks good on your tractor. Very beneficial too. Can you get aftermarket A/C for the Curtis Cab ? That'd be nice for Summer weather.
A/C is pretty cost prohibited. In the Summer I'll remove the doors and rear window. I was always interested in a sun shade or canopy so the roof will take care of that.
@@ataleofthreecabins1025 i bought my 3025 J.D. with a sun canopy thru deere. Its pretty nice. Although with a cab and A/C you'd never have to worry about bee's nest in the ground.
@@deanbarr5740
I was running a CK580, full cab, hit a ground nest, and they found their way into the cab and stung the hell outta me 25 times before i even knew what had happened.
I don`t care how tight a cab is, those mean little bastards will find a way to get into the cab one way or another to get you.
Do the heater hoses get in the way of your feet and the pedals? I'm installing the premier version and would like to get your feedback. Thank you.
Nope, not noticeable.
One thing I forgot to ask, surely the rubber floor may should have been removed prior to fitting the pillars, then the mat put back on top of it all afterwards? As it stands now,its difficult to replace the floor may should you need to
I went by the instruction, though I thought about putting it under. I was afraid the half inch or so might effect the tolerances for the rest of the assembly, such as the door not closing right.
@@ataleofthreecabins1025 , fair comment. Just seemed odd , but as long as it looks good, does the job and you are happy!
Awesome video and I appreciate all the work! Why didn’t you look into a Cozy Cab as well? Seems like it has better visibility and the style is much more modern and blends in with the tractors curves. Kinda a middle ground between the Mauser and Curtis. Not sure about the backhoe aspect with the Cozy Cab tho?
Cozy does not support 2018+ with forward ROPss. Happy New Year!
@@ataleofthreecabins1025 well I guess there you go lol. Happy new year and enjoy your Christmas stool.
Ah! The tractor cab,the only two draw back are the window fogging and having to open the doors to get in or out. A factory cab keeps you warm in cold weather , cool in hot weather, keeps one out of the dust, dirt, grime and grass particles of the field, and offers great protection when you disturb that nest of wasps. Although, yours is not a factory cab, I am sure you will enjoy it immensely and wonder why you didn’t buy it sooner.
You started to mention using the backhoe. Are you still able to use it with this cab on? How does that work?
Yes, it works without any restrictions. It actually keep a little roof overhead if its too sunny or a little rain is coming down. I'm 6"2 195#, if I had another 70 pounds on my it might be a little tight.
Is there any concern if you were to use the tractor in a heavily wooded area? It doesn't seem like something that would be easy to take off in the spring. Also, if you trailer your tractor, does the manufacturer recommend staying below 50 mph?
Agility is going to be less in the woods. Come Spring I'll just be removing the doors and rear window, removing the whole cab would not be a good option. There was no restrictions on trailering.
im curious about the door vinyl glass is it rigid clear vinyl or is it roll vinyl stretched tight
It's thicker than rolled and stretched tight like a drum on the frame, so it's rigid. Hope that makes sense.
Where did whoever get the John Deere Stool with Backrest? I've searched Amazon and eBay and JD but no luck. Can you please tell me?
Home Depot or Tractor supply. www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/plasticolor-stool-with-back-green-4802r01
I like it. 👍🏻
I watched your video yesterday of the Curtis Cab that was already installed in your tractor with your thoughts & comments of how you felt about it. Awesome video. Ive been contemplating about a cab for my tractor for the past 3 yrs. Im like you, i cant justify the extremely high cost of the Mauser Cab. . . . .$5,000--$7,000!!! Absolutely absurd & total "B.S." to charge that much money for a cab. Yes it would be nice to have. . . . .but gimme a freakin break!!! Mauser needs to drop $4-$6,000 off their ridiculous price. More than likely, truth be known, it brobably didnt cost them a total of $500 bucks to make that style of cab!!! I hope you enjoy this Curtis Cab. You mentioned that your "wife has an apohlstury buisness"??? You should have her cut out some nice, soft, light gray colored or light tan colored padding & install inside your cab!
P.S.----What is the 2 fancy, white, green, & yellow john Deere panels ya have hanging up on your wall???
Those are homemade corn hole boards.
@@ataleofthreecabins1025 Okie dokie, thanky for the reply back. i appreciate that. They sure looke nice!
Did I see your new roof leaking at about the 22 min mark ?
The barn roof? That cement stain is where I spilled some anti freeze. Was still wet.
@@ataleofthreecabins1025 I think I saw a drip falling
what's the installed height from the floor I need to know if my door will clear
82", the ROPs stick up above that, at least on my 2018.
Maybe I missed it ,but does JD make an after market cab for your tractor?
John Deere doesn’t make a cab for the 1025r. They use Mauser cabs.
Love your videos what cameras do you use
Majority of videos are shot with my iphone 12 and DJI pocket 2. The Pocket 2 has some following feature and a wireless mic setup for talking to the camera.
amzn.to/3ERFSHN
@@ataleofthreecabins1025 you do a very good job with your videos
Is that cab able to take off and put on when needed
You can remove the doors, rear window and open the front window, but it would be to difficult to remove with the heater installed. I have used it in the summer and with those items removed it was no hotter, actually provided shade and helped during a sprinkle.
What is the overall height of the cab from the floor of the garage?
82 inches
Tom, did it affect your leg room?
No affect, it is surprisingly spacious. I would have thought it was going to give a feeling of confinement, but it didn't.
Good job.
Have a Curtis cab on my BX, I wouldn’t go without it.
Just be careful with the front window open. I think that is the cab people have the front window open and then lift the loader and break the window. But I like that version of cab too for the 1025r.
I looked into it and pretty sure it's the Mauser cab that some had the level indicator shatter it.
When I bought my 1025, I thought about getting one with a cab, but for me personally it was way to claustrophobic
👍
Good luck with that transmission in that tractor. There's an issue that jd knows about.
Best Cab is the Mauser Cab.
Plus cab
the metal sounds pretty heavy
The whole thing weighs about 4 hundred pounds.
Is someone shooting at your shed. Wtf is that noise.
Sleeting
The mauser cab is a far better cab
I don't think its $4,000 nicer which is the difference in cost not to mention some major surgery if you have a backhoe.
@@ataleofthreecabins1025 im in ireland iv a JD 4400 and a x740 both with mauser cabs 1 thing we dont use here on the sub tractors is a back hoe on them but here mauser be seen as a very good cab
