    I've had a 2019 and now a 2022 that I love. I might be the only guy on the planet, that doesn't think the 18-22's don't look terrible > but, yes, this one looks a lot better yet. I'm perplexed by the huge HP increase though ??? If a person wanted a sports car, why in the world would they buy a Prius in the first place ? Don't get me wrong, if I were looking into buying a new C8 Corvette, and I had a choice between 450 hp and 700 hp, well heck yes Id go for the 700 hp model every time. But with a Prius, if I had a choice between a 200 hp model that get 57 mpg, and a 130 hp model that got 68 mpg, I'd go for the 130 hp model. And nobody can tell me that the redesigned 200 hp, gets better mileage than it would have, with all the same tech, but designed to make 130 hp. That's just physics. Not to mention, "rarely" do I get dusted off the line in my 123 hp 22'..... other than folks paying close attention to the lights, and actively trying to race me, OR people in V8 sports cars. Other than that, I'm typically up to 5 or 10 mph over the speed limit, and backed off to cruise control, ahead of 90% of the other drivers on the road, then I watch in my rear view as they continue to speed up to 20 mph over the speed limit, and finally pass me, while asking for speeding tickets :) lol People just don't drive logically, therefore I never drive with the flow.

    • @kevinsargent6282
      @kevinsargent6282 Год назад +2

      I agree, never understood why the Prius gets so much hate for it’s looks. I had a 2006 and currently drive a 2014 Plug In and appreciated the unique styling, and am waiting for a 2023 Prime. 🙂 I also thought the outgoing Prime was a beautiful car, and still think so.
      I have enjoyed the rock solid reliability driving Prius over the last 17 years, great practicality, and of course amazing fuel economy. While the added power will be “fun”, I agree that it does seem like a bit of overkill and would have been fine if it were less (in exchange for better fuel economy, or lower price…), but I won’t complain. 😉. Can’t wait until we get some official details and release dates on the Prime!

    • @MrMountainHawk

      Short answer full ev instant torque made it a bridge too far for too many prospective buyers. The power bump bridges the gap sufficiently.

    • @Chris_Wolfgram
      @Chris_Wolfgram Год назад +1

      @@MrMountainHawk for myself, the bridge too far, is that EV range still sucks for my purposes. As soon as they make an EV which either 1) I can plug in before bed, and wake up with an 800 mile range under worst case scenarios, or 2) can be charged to an 600 mile range in 10 minutes or less, forget it. Lots I love about EV's..... but the crappy range, and pain in the ass with charging, is a deal breaker for me.
      You might not believe I drive this much, but with my 22' Prius that I just bought 6 months ago, I've already done two 4500 mile round trips. 700-800 miles is my typical cross country driving day. 300-500 a day is typical when I'm doing ride share.

    • @razorraysolarsavings70
      @razorraysolarsavings70 Год назад

      Lol it’s not a sports car at all and it needed an increase in horsepower. It was dangerously slow before. Only the third generation had 134 horsepower the fourth a measly 121. That was too little power. I drove them all so I know.

    • @Chris_Wolfgram
      @Chris_Wolfgram Год назад +3

      @@razorraysolarsavings70 I just wouldn't call them dangerously slow. Again, the only cars dusting me off of the line, are just the folks paying attention, and actively trying to dust me, and / or those with an actual sports car. A modest jump in HP's would have been okay, but a HUGE jump, and only a small jump in MPG just seems wrong to me for what this car is, or supposed to be.

      @TomLawlor-iq6gm 5 месяцев назад

      @@toyotatalkcanada Though the vast majority of people can't see the LED Flicker (upper case F as Flicker is a technical term), in person, the light does have Flicker. I made my living selling lighting equipment and I know of only one LED brand that does not suffer from the issue.
      Without getting too technical, the Flicker is caused by the design of the drivers that LED's use. A driver in an LED does what a ballast did in older type lights. During each Hz cycle, the driver actually stops power for an instant, causing the LED to extinguish. I have actually seen Flicker with my own eyes on many Asian LED lights and I have met people who can see it even with some "high end" lights.
      Flicker becomes visible on a camera because of the filming frame rate. Some cameras allow you to adjust the frame rate so the Flicker disappears from your screen.

    I am already getting 4l/100km on my older model. They didn’t improve the fuel consumption. I would be expecting 2l/100km

      That would be amazing, but unfortunately I don’t think it is possible for a vehicle with specs like this without going PHEV

      I'm getting 3.8L/100km with my PHEV Ford Puma so Toyota has to come with something better to convince me.

      @@tahahandsome it’s a 2017 model, 16 inch wheels. I am about 50% highway and 50% city. It’s not exactly 4L/100km. I get around 4.1-4.3L/100km

    I was looking to replace a 2013 Prius V, too bad it's gone, however the tires on the models sold in Canada are a deal breaker. The LE is not available in Canada with 195/60/17 tires, only the 2 pricier models with 195/50/19 tires. There are no all weather or winter tires available in that size in Canada to date. Seems rather short sighted on Toyota's part to sell cars in Canada without the possibility of installing winter tires, unless you want to spend another $1500 for proper tires on steel rims.I'm not sure what the proper size match would be in a more practical 17" size.

      The design must be copied from Tesla. Looking at the rear of the car, it looks like a Chinese car!
