You gave a pretty good assessment of the Toyota Prius but, not much about the battery power for distance and charging times when needed. OH, did I forget to mention the total cost to purchase one of these electric cars?
It depends on what kind of driver are you, if you get 17" wheels or 19" and FWD or AWD. For 17", FWD 4l / 100 km is certainly a realistic number, even the older one was able to reach fairly close to 4l.

I've had a 2019 and now a 2022 that I love. I might be the only guy on the planet, that doesn't think the 18-22's don't look terrible > but, yes, this one looks a lot better yet. I'm perplexed by the huge HP increase though ??? If a person wanted a sports car, why in the world would they buy a Prius in the first place ? Don't get me wrong, if I were looking into buying a new C8 Corvette, and I had a choice between 450 hp and 700 hp, well heck yes Id go for the 700 hp model every time. But with a Prius, if I had a choice between a 200 hp model that get 57 mpg, and a 130 hp model that got 68 mpg, I'd go for the 130 hp model. And nobody can tell me that the redesigned 200 hp, gets better mileage than it would have, with all the same tech, but designed to make 130 hp. That's just physics. Not to mention, "rarely" do I get dusted off the line in my 123 hp 22'..... other than folks paying close attention to the lights, and actively trying to race me, OR people in V8 sports cars. Other than that, I'm typically up to 5 or 10 mph over the speed limit, and backed off to cruise control, ahead of 90% of the other drivers on the road, then I watch in my rear view as they continue to speed up to 20 mph over the speed limit, and finally pass me, while asking for speeding tickets :) lol People just don't drive logically, therefore I never drive with the flow.
I agree, never understood why the Prius gets so much hate for it’s looks. I had a 2006 and currently drive a 2014 Plug In and appreciated the unique styling, and am waiting for a 2023 Prime. 🙂 I also thought the outgoing Prime was a beautiful car, and still think so. I have enjoyed the rock solid reliability driving Prius over the last 17 years, great practicality, and of course amazing fuel economy. While the added power will be “fun”, I agree that it does seem like a bit of overkill and would have been fine if it were less (in exchange for better fuel economy, or lower price…), but I won’t complain. 😉. Can’t wait until we get some official details and release dates on the Prime!
