Great review. These are now on my "to try on" list. I'm ready to get into the clip less market and I'm having a tough time deciding crank brothers or shimano
Nick Rogers i ride these with crank brothers pedals. Spd shoes will work just not the cleats. Once you get the crank brothers pedals install the cleats (included with the pedals) to the bottom of the shimano shoes and good to go
I enjoy riding on Shimano shoes having ridden M089s (Generic All mountain shoe) and MT54s (All day touring MTB shoe) for some time. The "little-toe" protection on the ME7 looks identical, or perhaps even shorter down the length of the shoe to an M089 and that isn't quite sufficient to protect against scuffing injuries very well as was mentioned in the review? Was the review model a "wider" toe-box model like the MT54 offers? I can certainly vouce for the torbal system and in my view Shimano's shoes "disappear" in terms of feeling them on your feet once clipped in and you can just concentrate on the excellent feel of the bike through the SPD system. If I try on a pair of the ME7's and pick up a pair perhaps i'll do a comparison review of the three of them. Thanks for the review Bikeradar
He still had one ME7 on throughout, with the other socked foot just resting in a dirty puddle. This is why we don't do video reviews of shorts or bibs.
never ridden the SD15, however looking at it, the ME7 seems to be a more dedicated MTB shoe, whereas the SD15 looks to be more of a ride/walk cross-over shoe.
we're big fans of the 2FO clip here at BikeRadar, however I've not actually had a chance to ride in them significantly, yet! I have a pair of the 2FO ClipLite Lace's in for review, so look out for that in the coming months. All said, the ME7 is now my favourite MTB shoe, which says a lot!
I disagree - waterproofing adds weight and cost, while compromising breathability. On wet rides I wear waterproof socks to keep my feet dry (they also come higher up the leg, so are better suited to warding off splashes), and I'd rather a cooler pair of shoes in summer. I'm not sure there are that many waterproof enduro shoes on the market? None of the ME7's main competitors (Mavic Deemax, Giro Terraduro, Bonty Rhythm etc) are listed as waterproof.
I just couldnt look away from these nice quads. Damn.

I was very tempted by these but ended up getting 5.10 hellcats
Prince Fancybum was wondering which is wider too, did you try both fits?

How does the ME7 compare to the Sidi SD15?

How does the Specialized 2fo clip compare? I am torn between the two!

Once you said not a waterproof shoe it was game over. It you are going to ride enduro you better have water proof shoes.

etobiCRACKscorpions have you ever took a sniff at your waterproof shoes after a day of riding ? Mine smelled worse than a skunk !
about time they got rid of archaic dumb arse laces.
