    Stayed at The Georgia about 5 years ago, it is a fantastic property as are all the Rosewood Hotels. Vancouver is one of my all time favorite cities in the world. Cheers 🥂

    The filming was great - relaxing video with the beautiful music and facts. I am coming to Vancouver very soon, and it is helpful to watch all of your videos. Thank-you.

    Last time I was there was at the end of October and the fireplace was on. I was sitting those seats front of it every chance I had. Because we don't have the fireplace here. Such a wonderful hotel with amazing art collection. I only drink coffee and orange juice delivered to my room for breakfast.

    I work less than 200m from this building. Vancouver is a lovely city for anyone who has buckets of cash - and an absolutely awful place for anyone else.
    As an example: the price of food downtown is basically the same as what was shown in the hawksworth “fine dining” breakfast. That’s not unusual or overpriced. Everything in this city and our province is exorbitantly expensive, and the locals are literally being forced out of the city as a result.
    I work a fairly lucrative career and would be quite well off elsewhere. Here, I’m just another peasant.
    It’s such a shame because it’s one of the most naturally beautiful cities in the world.
    Unfortunately I don’t have that cash now, but one day I will. I may appreciate the city more when that day comes.

      Shikhar Shah this is nice & cheap for us. Wait till you come to Central London ☺️

    • @sshah2545
      @sshah2545 6 лет назад +5

      Peter Clarke I’ve been there, and I agree, but just because your city is astronomically expensive, doesn’t mean ours isn’t absurdly as well.
      I will also say, by the nature of industry and business in London, there’s far more money and economic opportunity there than there is in Vancouver. As much as Vancouver wants to call itself a “city” it’s really just an oversized village.

    When on holiday, I prefer to book without breakfast: gives you an excuse to check out what the locals eat. Besides, except for in Asia, breakfast buffets in 4 and 5 star hotels are monotonous.

    Booking at a hotel with breakfast at least gives one the option of being able to have that meal when local offerings fall short. Of course, it greatly depends on what hotel one stays at. I've been fortunate that most hotels I've stayed at either have decent room service or a breakfast nook in the lobby. Definitely a plus for me as the guest.

    Slightly silly question: what is the proper etiquette for using an indoor pool in an urban hotel? Do you put on your bathing suit in your room and then walk through the lobby and elevator wearing your bathing suit and bathrobe ..... or is it considered more proper form to bring your swim suit, etc to the pool facility and then use the changing facilities (locker room) in the pool area before and after your swim?

    • @davidcharles9325
      @davidcharles9325 6 лет назад +1

      They have changing rooms by the pool, you take your swimsuit and toiletries and change there. Afterward, you dry off and change into proper clothes then walk back to your room.

    Lovely hotel and in a nice area. This is a must try on my next visit. Vancouver is such a great city and is easy to navigate. I enjoy Granville Island (I could go broke here), Stanley Park, Grouse Mountain or even Whistler/Blackcombe. I have stayed at the Four Seasons and The Fairmount. Both are very nice properties.

    Try Panda Pod Hotel, no breakfast but they are the only hotel charges less than $100/night (in summer and after tax)
    You can take the money and get any food you want.

    Vancouver is my favorite all time North American city. I particularly enjoy Granville Island and Stanley Park. Any travel companions that are with me know that a day trip to Victoria’s Butchart Gardens are de riguer. 😉

      Vancouver is my favorite city in North America as well. I spent part of my medical training at Vancouver General Hospital in Kitsilano. I love the vibe of the city and the fabulous natural surroundings!

      the Luxury Travel Expert ... I was very fortunate to have the choice of medical school in my home town or going away. Thank God our family physician talked me into staying home as he painted a very realistic picture of what I was in for. Because I stayed in town, I had the support of family during the days I doubted myself and Mom always saw I had clean clothes, etc. I’ve never ever forgotten their support and kindnesses and now she like my Father (when he was alive) will never experience the indignity of a SNF here in the States.

    I have stumbled upon your vids, and I enjoy them, you do a great job. I'm late to the party here, but may I know that name of the composer/company that did this music? I think you also used it, or something similar, in the Amanzoe (Greece) tour (great vid!), and I'd like to find more of it. I assume you subscribe to a music service for your vids, but perhaps I can find it if you know the company or composer... thank you in advance.

      IMHO, the Rosewood, the Fairmont Pacific Rim, and the Shangri-La are the 3 top hotels in Vancouver. If you prefer a historic ambience and darker decor, then you should stay at the Rosewood. If you prefer an airy, contemporary design, then I recommend to stay at the Fairmont Pacific Rim (my favorite because of its waterfront location and outdoor pool deck) or the Shangri-La.

    built in the early 1900's and I have to wonder if the milk slide is still downstairs for the horse deliveries!!! 1995 I was in on e the renovation that year, cleaned clock on the floor levels. pulled the ENTIRE top floor including the "King EDward" suites in 27 straight working hours with an experienced crew of FIVE people. Olympic Event stuff (booking hadn't TOLD me the floor was to be available for const. on Monday)!! Idiots.
