CWS Manchester Band Last Ever Performance 31st March 1985

This is the last ever performance by the CWS Manchester Band on the 31st March 1985 at Dobcross Band Club. Platt Lane, Dobcross, Saddleworth OL3 5AD.
The band played a particularly heavy program and every solo instrument chair was required to stand up and show off. There were tears on the night.
Farewell CWS. The Cooperative Wholesale Society were so stupid to 'delete' this musical institution when the costs of maintaining it were so paltry in the grand scheme of things.

Great to see this, thank you. I played in CWS Glasgow band in 1987/88 age 17. So sad that the number of bands today has fallen so low. Euphonium player John Stark was my trumpet then cornet teacher, he was one of the two brass instrument teachers at my school.

Really sad when a band fold up , especially when they know it will be their last performance . I guess this must have been very emotional .
