Thank you Mark. I hope to provide just enough info so people understand without blinding them with science. The next (last) episode I suspect will be of most interest - the software.
Colin, perfect timing as I've just left the Beier Forum! 😁 VERY helpful lot. I left a comment earlier, on your previous Video. You impress me as someone who has a working knowledge of Electrical Engineering. Am I off? My Father was an Electrical Engineer... I am most certainly NOT! 😫😵🙄 I have an understanding, from working as an Auto Technician on Luxury Vehicles, and as an Audiophile. This Beier - especially the Manual..... PERPLEXES ME!! I want to understand. I just can't grab the concept fully. This isn't easy for an Old Fart of 58, with a long Career of problem solving. 🙄 ~ I just really didn't want to go with a single option, MORE expensive MFC! I've mentioned that I'm using good ESCs with incredible low speed tuning... and a 10 Channel Radio. I'm waffling!! The question is about LEDs. I have almost 100 better than average, pre-wired LEDs, 3mm, 5mm, 8mm and 10mm. I do not know the Resistor value, but the White ones have a perfect bright beam on 3S Batry. The Red, Amber and Blue also give correct lighting, I've tested them by leaving them on for 4 days. (MONITORING the Lipo of course!) The Resistors are on the Positive Lead... CAN I use them on my Beier?? (Knowing that ALL Positives are Common) Thank you Sir! You're providing an invaluable service!!
Just finished your Video, ANXIOUS for more! Colin, I realise that about 95% of your content is aimed at the more Novice type.... I'm neither a Novice or an Expert. Last Video, you browsed by CUSTOM Sounds and Sound Sequences, plus some custom operations on your Volvo Tow Truck.... ARE YOU going into any of that at any time??? 😜😊😊😊 On the Sound Teacher Screen, on the Sound Tabs - there's the slots for adding Sounds. I got that. NEXT to them are a SLEW of "tick boxes" for Outputs 1-16, Output Seq 1 and 2, and a few other things that NOBODY has sufficiently explained, so a dum dum like me can understand!! It's TOUGH knowing enough to know how much you DON'T KNOW!!! 😫🤬🤬 One more thing, I promise! My last unit, when pulling the Throttle back, always makes a horrible "whirring" down Sound (ANY Engine Sound file), if you remember 80's Racing Arcade Games, you've heard it. YOURS doesn't do that! It just sounds like an Engine decelerating. HOW did you do that? Is it something in the settings, or your own Sound Files? Thank you for putting up with me.
Hello Carmine. Again, thanks for the kind comments. If I'm correct, a 3S Lipo is 11.1volt? The SFR-1 has an operating range between 6 and 18vDC, so 11.1volt as a supply voltage is fine. Within the software you specify your battery type and voltage. Beier caters for 2, 3 and 4S Lipos. If your LEDs work on the 3S, they'll work just the same on the SFR-1. As for where the resistor is located; it doesn't matter so long as it is in the circuit i.e. before or after the LED. Sometimes if you aren't sure about what resistor is required it is worth sacrificing one. Start with a 680Ohm resistor in a simple circuit with your battery. Gradually substitute the resistor for a smaller value until it goes pop. This way you'll learn what's best for brightness / longevity.
Hi Carmine. I'm no expert, just an experienced user. I will confess there's parts of the Beier system I have not used myself. In the last part (hopefully in about 10 days!) I hope to give some structure (make sense of) to the software. I will most likely look at random and custom sounds, creating your own and touch on macros (or sequences as Beier call them). As for your throttle sound.. the slowing down sound is a default sound specifically matched to the forward sound file. It's not something I've created. I assume you have loaded a standard .sfr file for one of the trucks (from the sounds folder)? This pre-populates the throttle sounds. Just a thought - there will be a brake file, usually 'bremse.wav'. This sounds when the vehicle is in deceleration. You could try removing this file and see if it helps.
@@tamiyatruckbuilding7426 Remember, I'm using the USM-RC-3.... Exactly the same Wiring and Functionality as the SFR-01. Except I've got EIGHT Prop Channel inputs and four Servo outputs. I was told on the Beier Forum that the files I have already for the now defunct USM-RC-2, work in the new model. They're also the same as the SFR-01! I just obviously need the USM-RC-3 Software, which I do. So I shouldn't have any problems with the LED Resistors all going to Positive Common? They will all be in Parallel of course.
@@tamiyatruckbuilding7426 Yes Colin, for my Grand Hauler, I used the Detroit Diesel .sfr file from the Software. It's not as offensive if I lower the "Speed" in the Engine Sound page to about 170%, instead of the 300% that's defaulted in the upload. I also loaded the CAT and Cummins Engine files... SAME thing! BUT, that was with the USM-RC-2. I haven't been able to get to work on the new USM-RC-3 yet. Since it's supposed to be just like the SFR-01 without built-in ESC, maybe it will be better! I will try that bremse.wav removal. Hell I'll try spitting in a tube if I thought it would help!!! 🤪😂🤣 I truly look forward to the next part! If you figure out more advanced features, I hope you'll share 😉 I'll be using my Beier to control the Actuator on my 8X4 Tipper Truck. So I'm excited to see how yours works! Cheers and thanks!
Very useful electronics information there Colin. Great video.
Thank you Mark. I hope to provide just enough info so people understand without blinding them with science. The next (last) episode I suspect will be of most interest - the software.
Thank you again, once more!
You're welcome Marius. Part 4 in about 10 days..
