What I was thinking, one time I got a meat buffet actually there isn't many people who actually can afford what you pay there. After a plate most people are full if you count how many 20$ payd by each member is nothing. Probably they put equality in the balance. Also they didn't waste food, what most people do when they go to a buffet.
Plus, they get a special discount for mass order (economies of scale) as well as non-retail business to business pricing (potentially less tax). Non-export grade or slightly subpar quality (visually) meat can also be served and you wouldn’t know the difference...

The company manages them, eg provide physical trainings + food to bulk up. So at the end of the competition, a portion of the prize money goes to the company. And the company also gets publicity for being able to produce so many winners.
The meal is basically paid for by being able to use them as characters for the show, the company that produces this segment probably had also agreed to pay for the food to film it. We don't know if he treats them to these foods on a normal basis. But even if they do, they probably take it into consideration with their pay. Kind of like how when you look for jobs you not only look at the pay itself but also the fringe benefits. It all depends on the dynamics of the company. They eat most meals with their boss so he pays for it. I'm sure even in Malaysia almost all of the time when you eat with your boss he will pay for it. It just doesn't seem as normal for you because you probably don't eat with your boss as often as they do.
Bosses are usually our seniors so yes they buy food for us. But only in more casual settings and if you have a close relationship. Seniors always pay for the food
