5:56 Long story short, Terror Birds were one of the most dangerous predators to ever live. They’re flightless birds with beaks they used to crush the skulls of prey. They basically had twice the height of ostriches, temperament of honey badgers, and appetite of pelicans.
*W/* Dromeosaurid sickle claws. Just imagine if they replaced the V-Raptors of Jurassic Park/World w/ *THESE* guys, instead of using the size-accurate Utahraptor.
They were completely unchallenged as apex predators until the Isthmus Of Panama formed. Then they started having competition from wolves and sabretooth cats. And this competition is what ultimately drove them into extinction (one of the last survivors was Titanis Walleri in Florida).
They competed with Sebecosucians, Purasaurus, Thylacosmilus, Dire Wolfs, Big Cats and Bears and still managed to survive long enough for one small species to encounter some of the first humans in South America really shows how impressive they are
@@AngiraBlu96 Utahraptor was bigger than the "Velociraptors" in those movies, and while slower, was much stronger. I think a Utahraptor would shred a phorusrhacid.
@@camerus4460 Well, see, that’s the funny thing, U-Raptor was discovered during the 1st movie’s development and the book had the raptors as Deinonychus, which isn’t even that big. Bigger than V-Raptor, but not Dakotaraptor ( _which apparently may/may not be a valid genus, now_ ), Achillobator, and U-Raptor big. And yes, it would most definitely make KFC outta Terror Birds, considering its huge claws on its hands and feet and the fact that it was in a similar weight class to a Polar Bear.
18:01 The Golden Eagle is my favorite animal. Despite its unethical hunting habits (dropping prey off cliffs) they mate for life and only leave each other if they can't reproduce. They also dive the same way as the peregrine falcon and can dive up to 200 mph! Peregrine Falcons dive to 240 mph, so basically the Golden Eagle is the fastest Eagle and the 2nd fastest animal in the world!
The meme of the peregrine falcon Jojo posing with a clenched fist is peak. Personally I'm fond of owls and corvids most, which leaves me conflicted because of the eternal beef the two groups have.
Wait, I never thought maharute was a golden eagle! I was a wee kid back then and though I did my best guessing what she is, I ended up empty-handed 'til this comment showed up Thanks
Birds are both cool and scary in equal measure, im pretty sure if a falcon hit me in the head I would be DONE, but at the same time gosh they are cool when they transform themselves into a missile mid air.
Nemu's voice is one of the sweetest and cutest voices I've ever heard! It's right up there with Gura, Okayu, Ina, Korone and FuwaMoco; no direct comparison between any of them but all exceedingly cute in their own way. Must protecc and give all the headpats! Thank you RUclips algorithm for bringing me to yet anotther amazing indie V-tuber!
fun fact: i read somewere years ago that we too had see through eyelids thousonds of years ago, like a second pair of lids for hunting. back in the days when we hunted our prey the second set of eye lids came in handy for keeping our eyes moist while keeping sight on our prey, idk if it is all true but agen this is going back 8 ish years ago. another thing aparently the fleshy bits in the side of our eyes are the reminsence of those eye lids that have disapeard from years upon years of evolution because we dont need them anymore. AGEN this is going back 8 years ago so could be wrong and im too lazy to go back and check lmao.
Yes, the pink fleshy bit at the outer corner of your eyes is a vestigal remnant of the nictitating membrane. Though, I think it would have been gone before we became hominin, maybe even before we were hominid but I'm not expert or anything.
Technically correct, but the timeline is in millions of years rather than thousands. The only extant primates with fully functioning second eyelids are a part of the Strepsirrhini, i.e. the group that contains lemurs and lorises. And those guys split off from other primates roughly 63 - 57 million years ago. So a stone throw away from the non-avian dinosaurs going extinct is when our ancestors started to slowly ditch the second eyelid (although, as you noted, the vestiges of the second eyelid are still present even in humans).
14:59 Yeah, that’s scientifically accurate. Look up what superorder clade Birds (Aves) come from and it’s literally Dinosaurs (Dinosauria). Further back in the phylogenetic tree, you’ll see that they’re Archosaurs, which includes, but is not limited to, birds, dinosaurs, crocodilians, and pterosaurs. Further back are their relatives, which includes turtles/tortoises, plesiosaurs, pliosaurs (*not to be confused w/ mosasaurs, which are closer to snakes and monitor lizards*), and the like.
Birds are just the left cousins of Dromeosaurs, i.e. raptors, (both are classed under Paraves) that happened to barely duck (pun unintended) the meteor that wiped all the other dinosaurs out. Toothed birds as well as most other prehistoric bird types were lost in the exchange, but then they bounced back with terror birds, ostriches, and eagles to try to reclaim their cousin's lost niches of being the big dogs of the food web.
My vtuber in christ, are you even listening to most of the vid...? Oh wait, *you're one of those vtuber types that are easily distracted* Also good thing the window is between that caracara and the cat. If it weren't, then rest in pieces to that kitty

The Owl Corvid Beef is something else. You could make a war movie about it and it would make sense.
I will never think of a Golden Eagle again without the movie, Rescuers Down Under attached to it. They are super beautiful.
Great and underrated movie!
