With all these details regarding the Megiddo scene, from intentionally targeting non-vital areas to letting the enemy kill each other, it's no wonder he got the Merciless skill.
Another detail from the novel is that it’s easily blocked if you know how it works, but the army didn’t understand science and thus couldn’t comprehend how to stop it. When Hinata heard about it, she instantly figured out how it worked and said that a special barrier or even just kicking up a cloud of dust could ruin its effectiveness. It’s a spell that’s only supposed to work once, but since Rimuru left no witnesses, he may be able to use it again one day.
To be fair, unless someone becomes a physics teacher in that world, I think only Otherworlders and maybe a handful of smart ppl would understand how the move works and know how or be able to counter it. It just seems particularly more effective on humans, with few being able to react to that speed and potential with better aim u could probably be more than 1 with each lazor
The fact that simply knowing how it works makes it so easy to counter is such a severe flaw to it, even his own subordinates criticized that aspect of it, including some of the biggest Rimuru simps like Diablo.
Meggido can also be set up as a trap, with a delayed trigger or a some activation requirement to let it go off with no input from the caster. Like, Rimuru could set up a border security system around Tempest that auto-targets anything he wants. The moment the designated targets get inside the sure hit range... bam. Instant death unless they're capable of dodging light or they're one of a handful of people who know how Meggido works.
Honestly the small side story of the knight was surprisingly emotional im sad they cut it though it was probably to save time and for thee cool moment with rimurus massacre to flow more smoothly rather than have it side tracked. Maybe at some point they could have it as a filler story to tie in to falmuth or other.
Though the meetings do serve a purpose to tell us about what's going on; I'd really rather they just show us what's happening instead of telling us. Like, this is an anime, made to watch, not a book to be read.

i've watched that scene alot of times. It hits more and more when the song starts playing and it is both terrifying and awesome. Thanks for the breakdown, bittersweet but at least the knight found peace.
We really need an updated version of your video explaining the magic system of the anime. There are alot of new concepts and terms being thrown around with the latest season.
I’m guessing they had physical barriers to defend against melee attacks and thrown objects? Megiddo is clever, since the enemy barriers don’t obstruct light from entering.
I can imagine in an alternative timeline where Rimuru chose to save that one knight that that one person would probably become a prophet of a new religion with Remiru as their god.
I have kept going back to this moment in the anime as a way to pass the time because its so cool and spoiler alert (Rimuru and masayuki don't end up fighting but a potential end to the season is even better)
I’m with Shion and her anger towards Edmaris. The true crime was forcing happy-go-lucky Rimuru into that position, and she knew it. I feel, despite how she, Shuna and Rimuru act, this event will always be that dark moment in his life that leaves him wondering in the dark. A specter that never quite catches up, never quite removes his smile, but is always there… close enough to be seen. It would be good for him to have someone to confide in, even if forgiveness is not what he seeks. Hinata could do that, but I suspect it will only ever be Raphael in the future due to… spoilery stuff I’ve seen. OR the show never gives it more attention because that would be too ‘mature’.
Rimuru practically begged them to kill his people though. He left his city without a way to contact them. He forbid them from harming humans. He gives full disclosure to any potential spy and will even let them have authority if they are curious. Announced he existence of a monster civilization to everyone, at a time when monsters are automatically assumed to be malicious to humans. If anything the humans were overly merciful that Tempest had as must survivors than it did.
What are the things needed to use merciless? The way you described it here makes it sound like whoever Rimuru has beef with he can decide if the person lives or dies, regardless of status or experience.
Those that merciless thinks is an enomy of rimuru. And the fact that just once. Only once in their hearts they surrendered and pleaded to be spared. Will mark them as a target for merciless. So yeh. Death comes to them even if they got sent to a different dimension without skills and magic. Cuz merciless takes their souls, regardless of space and time😂
Target has to lost their will to live for merciless to take effect. After taking effect user can take the anytime he want. Even if they regained their will to live, he can still take their soul. However there's no absolute in tensura and will and power is most important. So it can still be resisted or blocked if the target is stronger than user.
Even though I already finished reading this part of the Story in manga, I don't know some of the details you are sharing or know this side story of the poor soldier. Thanks for creating this video.
Interesting given the amount of abilities Rimuru has you'd think he read the minds of the Soilders who truly wanted to kill & the one's that truly didn't? But given how upset he was, my guess he wouldn't have bothered to be that precise. 🤷🏿♂️
I don't want to be the bearer of bad news, but you won't see Rimiru go into battle again until they go to Luminus's territory. The upcoming festival is mostly world building, though there will be a few good fights, just not involving Rimiru. The new Hero is just a joke character, I wouldn't expect much from him lol.

Can't wait for new drops. I was hesitant on the price but it's definitely worth it for the quality. Would love some Overlord themes if possible
Hey aninews can you check the lord of the mysteries web novel, the power system is stupidly intricate while the worlds setting makes each fight in-depth and simple at the same time
So, that's what these beams were supposed to be, then. Well, on a physics standpoint, it seems ridiculously far from what reality would have been. First, the lenses seem far too small to have any kind of "instant death" power on people. And then, if it had been lasers don't work that way. They take time to heat up what they hit. When you put your steak into a very hot frying pan, it just burns on the surface, the heat don't go through like that at all. Turning the power up enough I would expect the blood and water on the surface to instantly boil and possibly explode into steam. That would be extremely gruesome. Instead the lasers effects in the anime look like they are instead kinetic weapons.

It would be good for him to have someone to confide in, even if forgiveness is not what he seeks. Hinata could do that, but I suspect it will only ever be Raphael in the future due to… spoilery stuff I’ve seen.
OR the show never gives it more attention because that would be too ‘mature’.
Ive noticed he's been using background music from Ori & the Will of the Wisps. Amazing game and OST and great choice!
I wonder if rimuru could change form to bacteria and be airborne , destroying them from the inside out
Hey, @AniNews please continue Arifrueta cut content, season 3 has been announced to be in production. It's also scheduled to come out next season.
Thank you for doing this one hope u do more slime videos I really enjoy them
I do wish Rimuru had spared the life of that knight. though it would nice to find out what happened to his kids.
Rimuru "I own your Soul" Tempest
Rirmuru “your ass is grass” Tempest
Rimuru practically begged them to kill his people though. He left his city without a way to contact them. He forbid them from harming humans. He gives full disclosure to any potential spy and will even let them have authority if they are curious. Announced he existence of a monster civilization to everyone, at a time when monsters are automatically assumed to be malicious to humans. If anything the humans were overly merciful that Tempest had as must survivors than it did.
The sun is indeed a deadly laser.
IYKYK
What are the things needed to use merciless? The way you described it here makes it sound like whoever Rimuru has beef with he can decide if the person lives or dies, regardless of status or experience.
Those that merciless thinks is an enomy of rimuru. And the fact that just once. Only once in their hearts they surrendered and pleaded to be spared. Will mark them as a target for merciless. So yeh. Death comes to them even if they got sent to a different dimension without skills and magic. Cuz merciless takes their souls, regardless of space and time😂
it need that the target not longer have hope.
Target has to lost their will to live for merciless to take effect. After taking effect user can take the anytime he want. Even if they regained their will to live, he can still take their soul.
However there's no absolute in tensura and will and power is most important. So it can still be resisted or blocked if the target is stronger than user.
More videos like these, please.
Empire vs Tempest is just this with the massacre dialed to 10
The severity of this attack explained just makes me rethink my desire to live in the world of tensura 😅
So Rimuru is the theoretical mastermind, while Great Sage is conceptual and empirical mastermind.
I knew Merciless was OP but I didn't realize it let him act like Amanda Waller
Even though I already finished reading this part of the Story in manga, I don't know some of the details you are sharing or know this side story of the poor soldier. Thanks for creating this video.
Damn, Rimiru being cold hits pretty hard. I love it.
The manga also has a short story in the end showing the fight from Veldora and Ifrits view. They both swore to never make him angry.
Interesting given the amount of abilities Rimuru has you'd think he read the minds of the Soilders who truly wanted to kill & the one's that truly didn't? But given how upset he was, my guess he wouldn't have bothered to be that precise. 🤷🏿♂️
*MAN* oh man, the anime failed painting it - and i found the toon excellent.
Rudra be like
Love the tensura content
Wish Rimuru would've brought that guy back...
No
you would not survive overlords LN
Great moment we are gonna get a same moment in rimuru vs velgrynd
0:18 the concave side if facing the sun so it wont focus the light it would do the opposite
“Now back to the destruction”
I was so upset that the scene with the father wasn’t included in the anime or at least in an OVA.
S3 taking its time is understandment. I didn't know you could make an anime purely on the merit (or demerit) of board room meetings
reminded me one moment from overlord when ainz flexed his army infront of another guy
I bought some mugen merch and I gotta say it's amazing! I bought the Genesis tee (grey) and the armaments sweatpants(black). They just arrived a couple days ago and the quality is top notch! I was really surprised with the shirt quality and nothing against the pants they are good too but it always seems shirts are a second thought in terms of quality but it's thick and heavy. Can't wait for new drops. I was hesitant on the price but it's definitely worth it for the quality. Would love some Overlord themes if possible
The solar death ray is pretty rad.
I know this isnt related, but good taste in music with the Ori ost
wait that rimuru art from the thumbnail is from Last cloudia right the tensyra slime collab?
While hearing the Arch-bishop testimony Hinata figured out how he did it, but she kept it to herself.
"God is surprisingly childlike." - random knight
Hey aninews can you check the lord of the mysteries web novel, the power system is stupidly intricate while the worlds setting makes each fight in-depth and simple at the same time
It baffles me that nobody talks about Gobta's side story, in the Light Novel, featuring a beautiful romantic situation with an adventurer.
The re.zero ost always gets me teary-eyed 🥺
