    He's definitely from the '70s. Mickey Thomas he's the one who sang fooled around and fell in Love by Elvin Bishop and he also sung the song Jane by Jefferson Starship that you loved

    This is from the newly renamed Band's first album Knee Deep In Hoopla. This was their second Number One song which made It to the top of the US Billboard Hot 100 in 1986.
    It was said to be about Mickey Thomas's
    wife at the time. Mickey's riveting vocals are so beautiful with back up vocals provided by Grace Slick. The stunning harmonica very reminiscent of Stevie Wonder's style for sure. Just beautiful. Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and PNCombie. 👏 👏 Stellar performance. Cheers from Canada. 🇨🇦

      You're welcome, Mary. Some songs just taken you back to a certain place and time -- this one by Starship definitely takes me back to specific time and place in 1987. Each and every time I hear the harmonica/synthesizer intro, and near the end of the song, I get the same, nostalgic, but melancholy feeling. It's like I want a chance to go back to that time and stop some people I know from making bad decisions they made back then. The harmonica sound takes the song to another level. This former #1 is sad and beautiful all in one.

    I think the harmonica was actually a keyboard! The singer you said the same thing about him before, I don't think you realize who he is here. You reacted to him singing _Jane_ a month ago, and him singing for Elvin Bishiop's _Fooled Around And Fell In Love._

  • @clarkcraig6959
    @clarkcraig6959 Год назад +2

    i tried looking on wiki to see if it listed who played the harmonica. I could not see any listing for it. The only extra musician listed on the track was Peter Wolfe from J Giels band. Their harmonica player was Magic Dick maybe Peter got him to play on it

    I agree with you harri. The 70's had great bands like Chicago, Earth, wind and fore, the commodores whereas the 80's had great singers like Whitney, Luther vandross, George Michael, Anita Baker etc. Great observation!

    You nailed it… So much emotion in this song from beginning to end! The 80s were an awesome time for amazing, strong voices and sentiment in the songs. I too could listen to Mickey sing all day! I might be getting old lol, but boy am I glad I had the privilege of having my radio on when this kind of music was being played.

    That was a synthesizer that sounded like a harmonica. I don't think that you would want to have Sara as your girlfriend because she's a heartbreaker. If you watch the official music video for this song then you would understand.

    In this vein, I'd recommend Jefferson Airplane's "Comin' Back to Me," which is just beautiful and from the late 60s. It's when Marty Balin was the male lead, before Mickey Thomas. Love your reactions. 🙂❤

    Mickey Thomas really broght a lot to the table when he joined Starship. Grace's voice was on the downswing at this point and he sounded so similar, he was a perfect fit.

    Good review Harri, how about reviewing a song by The Move, "Blackberry Way" reached number one here in the UK, it's 'B' side was "Something", not The Beatles song, just a different song with the same title. Also "Beautiful Daughter" is an excellent song from the pen of Roy Wood. The Move evolved into Electric Light Orchestra in 1970, both bands existed together with the same core members of Roy Wood, Jeff Lynne and Bev Bevan until The Move split up in 1972 and ELO went on to be one of the biggest bands of the late 1970's and early 1980's.

    I don’t know anyone who liked Jefferson Airplane or Jefferson Starship who likes Starship. Their music is sappy and mainstream. “We Built This City” is absolutely cringe worthy.
