Brilliant. Just brilliant. Thanks for sharing. I had a problem getting the steel sleeve out, so I put on super glue on the plastic end and inserted that back into the hole. Let it dry for a bit, and voila, pulled the steel sleeve easily.
Works like a charm....thank you. I removed the stuck metal part with a double sided tape and a matchstick.
It works but easier way is to get a cocktail stick snap pointed end off so u have a thick end Put a very small dab of super glue 3 on the end insert into the port, it will push in just a little further, hold untill dry i let mine dry for 2 mins and slips out very smoothly works a treat lot less work too :) and this was on a broken metal pin

mate ! you saved my life. The only thing i did different is, i used solder wire which was really hard to catch the remaining part. I had max 1 seconds to push it into the socket before it gets hard. Thankss

This really helps a lot... although i didn't have a resistor lying around to follow you method... i ended up using a thicker piece of wire in place of the resistor. Thanks for the help.

I have the opposite issue. The female part has come out. Funny thing is that if I push it back into the panel where it was supposed to be the subwoofer still works when I thought I killed it. I just decided to leave well enough alone since the cable is top quality & I don't think I need to replace it. If anything, I think the subwoofer will die before the RCA cable, but it is still a decent Teatro 10 inch active subwoofer, despite the the disasterous break in the socket.
Use a thin pointed finishing nail or similar. Make sure it's hot and push it in so when it dries it grabs.

Had this happen to my computer speakers. For some reason the jack casing was stuck inside the socket (still can't figure out why) so when I pulled the plug out the thin metal casing just broke off inside the socket. I figured it was no big deal because it was still sticking out of the socket several mm, and I could easily grab it with some needlenoses and pull it out. But the metal was just stuck. I tried to pull on it, but it would just tear pieces off the metal instead of pulling the whole thing out. Very annoying. So I thought "okay, I'll just replace the socket, easy". I took 10 screws off the back holding the back plate on the box, and took the whole circuit board out. Turns out the cables are all housed inside a sealed box that is part of the back plate. Great! Then I removed the 6 screws down the middle of the black plate, then the three small bolts holding the aluminum shroud (which I can't figure out what is for) off, and the three screws from the back of the circuit board, every screw that appeared it even might have something to do with holding the box together: the whole unit is still just as intact as when I started. I have no idea why they bother with the expense of all these screws if they don't actually DO anything. I had a laptop like that once; took all the screws out and the halves were still firmly attached together. What is the point? Looks good?
Anyway, I finally decided I was going to have to force the box apart and hope it didn't break anything, when I watched your video and it made me decide to try again to remove the metal from the socket instead. Using a tiny screwdriver I basically pried and poked at it until I had torn it into small pieces and removed each one (one small piece at the end fell down inside; hope that doesn't cause problems). It appears that I was otherwise successful. No idea why the thing wouldn't just pull out, or why it broke to start with. It moves inside the socket, will spin and slip up and down a little, but won't pull the whole way out. So I don't think it was corrosion (and it looks clean inside anyway). Gremlins I guess. Now I need to go find a video about replacing a coax plug, to make sure I don't mess anything up doing that. Thanks/

I used an ultra thin nail and gave it a few taps with the head of my pliers until it gained purchase.. Then I pulled it out slowly.. It worked! But there is more than one way to skin a cat. lol. Your solution is a more sure way though. Especially if the board has more sensitive components like the one in your video.

When i tried it the pin actually fell back inside the connection. I'm able to connect an RCA but don't know if that will damage my amplifier since the broken piece is still inside. I was thinking of opening my amp but I'm sure that wouldn't help since it's the same RCA connector as the video. Does anyone have any prior experience with that issue?

Very good way but you can also try to super glue it to the broken part and then pull it:-)
Thats exactly my idea... I'm facing the same problem, only the external metal part stuck inside, the plastic pin is intact on the cable..... Not sure if the super glue idea will work tho
@@condor.67 if you try it you HAVE TO put only small drop so it doesn't super glue everything in the connector have a nice day or night

This didn't work. I tried both a needle and a drill bit. It pulls the needle/drill bit out but not the plug piece. I have been working on this for 2 hours. I also tried taking it apart to see if I could push it out the other way, but it is a one sided hole. There are no repair places for hundreds of miles. This is my only television, so I can't watch on anything else. I had two stuck. It worked with the first, but not the second.

So you not worried about getting burned just use a pair of scissors and burn the tip hold a sec or two then pull it works just as better and less frustrating in searching for supplies to use Todo it worked well for myself even having carpal tunnel it can be done by anyone young n old
