To stop your mind from racing and producing self reinforcing anxiety (which ultimately leads to panic attacks) you need to take it under control. It's easy but requires perseverance and discipline. Every day for at least 10 minutes you have to close your eyes and try not to say words in your mind, to stay quiet and "not think" (simplest type of meditation), you'll constantly fail but keep repeating endlessly. At first it will feel like a total waste of time and your mind will want to rebel against it. If you persevere for a month you will start to notice a core shift to the better. It's like taming a wild horse, which is your mind.
