Beautiful work....since the age of 13,14 i learned the game of chess....my stepdad bought one made of plastic for me as a christmas present before he passed away....it got burned in a fire home...i must say the video it brought back some memories

Though the title is a little misleading, I watched the entire thing...and was I amazed. My first thought after it was completed was sarcastic - I'm just gonna go fire up all that equipment in my garage...lol...but that was it. Like belledetector stated...everything was spectacular, and the design of "thin to win" was fantastic. Like belledetector, I, to, play chess and the weight difference is my only honest fault with your entire kit. Such beauty...I'd love to have a display set like that...might even play on it a few times. Wonderful job.
I really enjoy the design of the pieces. They turned out very elegant. It was clever of you to aim for a slim and traditional design and to keep the weight down. I was particularly impressed of your solution for the Knight. Next time consider making both sides of brass, and acid treat the "black" side. To chess players it will be a big no-no with the weight difference between the alu vs brass. Also make sure the King is slightly higher than the queen. However you have demonstrated your excellent cnc skills, and design skills as well. Sehr gut!

Created a chess set like this using this exact procedure and it turned out amazing! Thank you so much! ... Who am I kidding, exactly zero of us have nor ever will create one of these in this way. "Do it yourself" suuure.
Beautiful work, but if you consider the silver as white (as it should be), you have reversed the board columns and rows names... A1 and H8 squares should be gold. As a result, you can see in the end, King and Queen initial positions became reversed: white King should be on the right. (I'm a Chess teacher from Brazil)
As anyone can see at 8:26 the board is labeled incorrectly, unless gold is considered white and aluminum is considered black, which would be confusing. It can be corrected though simply by switching where the letters and number are.
No, I'm pretty sure they messed this one up. White on right is the rule I was taught and it makes no sense to have silver and gold and not have silver be the "white" side.
Fantastische Demonstration der Fähigkeiten einer CNC-Machine. Die Materialauswahl ist aber etwas verunglückt. Der Kontrast zwischen Messing und Alu ist zum Spielen etwas unpraktisch. Auch der Gewichtsunterschied zwischen Alu und Messing ist beim Spielen vielleicht irritierend. Ich hätte Edelstahl für weisse Felder und Figuren genommen und brunierten Baustahl für Schwarz.
Plastic and wood made chess sets are good but metal made chess set is much way better for life time usage. Great work. How I wish to have a metal chess set. 😍😍😍

Reminds me of a Chess Set I made back in 1969 - 70. It was made from Copper and Stainless Steel based on a 3 x 3 inch square. Turned and Milled as much as possible, but with a Hell of a lot of Hack sawing, Filing and Polishing especially the Knights. If I remember right think they where approximately about 60 hours each to produce ( along with a lot of swearing and cursing ) All this before anybody had heard of N. C. or C.N.C.. Still got the set ( Well my Son has ). the Board has been repaired a couple of times over the years, Usually due to the Glue giving out on the Tiles ( glued to a OAK Board ). but other wise as good as when i made it.

In 1975, I was just starting high school machine shop. A senior was making one of these for his final senior project using a Bridgeport vertical mill and South Bend lathe. No CNC back then.
The work was wonderful! Congratulations! But you positioned the colors on the wrong side. It was inverted. The squares A8 and H1 should be light colored and etc.
Тут смысл в том, чтобы было видно, что это механическая обработка. Так то и фигуры и доску проще, быстрее и дешевле отлить, чем выточить. Но и ценность потеряется в десятки раз.
there is a chessrule witch is saying that h1 should be a light square and should be positioned in the right-down corner of the board from the point of view of the player witch is playing with the light colored pieces. anyway, nice video!
Nice figure design. I've seen a few videos like this, but often the figures turn out to not look quite right. In this case I have beef with the board. It's surface still needs refining, maybe a mat sand blasted or brushed finish. Otherwise a well done job.

Easy fix just take a clean-up cut on the area where the numbers and letters are and re-engrave them in correct rotation

Im CNC Zentrum Dresden wurde auch ein Schachspiel erstellt der Springer sieht besser aus. Hergestellt auf einer Index G500 mit Y-Achse.
