    Couple other things:
    1) She criticized other black artist like J. Cole for not being vocal enough during the height of the BLM protests. After the incident and trading diss tracks with him; she tweeted “I’m no longer interested in proving myself to an internet that will cannibalize the vulnerability of those who choose to publicly learn.“
    2) Noname is very anticapitalist. She dissed Jay-Z in the song “Namesake” and called him out for his relationship with the NFL… and has a song about 3 tracks earlier with Jay Electronica who besides making the antisemitic remarks, also worked with Jay-Z very closely on his album “A Written Testimony” (Jay-Z is on like 80% of that album) and was released through Roc Nation.
    So basically; she’s stated that she doesn’t want to take criticism from people on the internet and then doubles down on that for antisemitic bars that she allowed on her song. She also is obviously not open to learning publicly given her response to the situation.
    And she chooses to work with and defend someone who not only has made other antisemitic remarks in the past, but has also worked closely with someone who she criticized on the album and goes against her own anticapitalist views.

    • @differentbutsimilar7893

      Internet culture in general has a way of taking things that were once more complex and meaningful... and relegating them to mere kite shields for nihilism. On one end, it fills a void for people who feel alone... but on the other end, it's about exposure and social status. Both figures and audiences are brought closer to meaninglessness by the exchanges.
      I kinda think it's bigger than many people appreciate at this point. Nietzsche said "God is Dead." just before the dawn of the 20th century because that was a post-religious-hegemony age... a time when the religious institutions that dominated societies had fallen off, secularism took hold, and people were falling into meaninglessness, now living without the values (and institutions that supported their impact) which once made things in the world 'real' and meaningful for them. We are going through that again, where past values aren't working for people anymore, and new values are in a hurry to take their place. I think this is ultimately good, the same way losing religious hegemony was good at the dawn of the modern age. It's just that in the wake, you get a lot of people drifting who contribute to a lot of senseless pain that makes the whole transition take longer and include fewer people.
      A lot of people did not adapt well when they lost sight of meaning within their own internal value systems, which crumbled along with the things that supported them. He postulated that they couldn't live as their genuine selves with dead external values taking the place of living internal ones, like they were basically their own worst enemies by deluding themselves in order to not face the reality that their beliefs are without meaning or substance for they themselves. We all have that experience of trying to find external things to latch those beliefs onto and coming up short. When people see their own values slipping from the world, they panic. It's an existential threat. A lot of adults see that experience as immaturity, something for teenagers to 'pass through' and never revisit... and so they pretend they don't feel it, or rationalize it as something other than a genuine crisis of values and meaning. And it only makes them worse people. You get people with maximum confidence in value systems that don't actually function, having too many contradictions that the person holding them can't see because they don't meet that dissonance at the source. By espousing their virtues, they put it on others to do it for them. For enough people to accept them that they can convince themselves this is who they really are. The dissonance then gets projected onto any perceived opposition. That inner doubt they feel is not THEM, it's their haters... in their worlds, anyway.
      I think people are once again "losing their religions" and it's making them willing to engage in a lot more nihilistic shit... play more of these games and in doing so, actively corrode once meaningful acts and social institutions. A lot of people are just walking around out there, taking on whatever beliefs make them feel like there's meaning in the world around them, and it's something that they too hold. But deep down inside, a lot of them can't fully commit, don't really believe it... just don't want to face the void and build for real. Hence their beliefs are like kite shields. For a regular person, this tends to amount to following the wrong figures. And for the figures, it amounts to being someone who lacks the substance of heart to truly lead the lost. And neither of them are privy to that truth, stuck guarding the holes in their own chests. SO much destruction is born from this. It's gotten hard to watch.
      I think the internet fuels it, by ultimately taking every genuine human thought and emotion expressed into it, and routing it to be mere fodder for content cycles. It's long since rubbed off on the real world, too... I tend to think. I feel the same about dumb things people do to get engagement on TikTok, or over here on shorts. That's that saaaammmeeee emptiness in thought and expression that sadly characterizes the times we live in. It trickles all the way up to the highest values expressed in our society, lots of empty words for all of the empty people looking for a sense of having meaning and belonging in a world that is becoming increasingly hostile and alienating to almost every kind of person.

It becomes very problematic when you dont or cant asses the reason behind why that is and its the same trap every conspiracy theory falls to -they first recognize systemic failures, but rather than applying a systemic critique, they reach for often dangerous conspiracies that only harm everyone involved.

    So let me get this straight Noname makes conscious thought provoking music which attract a conscious thought provoking fanbase. Then when she put something out that the predominately conscious fan base doesn't agree with. She says wow "Yall hear killing n**** all the time. But y'all can't handle a Jay Electronica verse" Newsflash they can't just like they don't agree with the rapping about killing because it doesn't ease their conscious. Like her fan base isn't predominantly gangbangers and street people, YG, G Herbo, or Lil Durk etc. So no they don't agree. Noname knew who she would arract through her music. Now Noname is also attracting the Alex Meyers 4chan conspiracy theorist all due to her recent comments and standing behind Electronica verse.

    I'm certainly not reppin' for hatred of any kind, but I find it interesting the level of backlash that she's getting for trying to distance herself from Jay's drop on the album. As a queer female forever fan of hip hop, it hasn't always been easy to find artists who aren't promoting some form of hatred against women and/or the gay community. And even if you find one, it's likely at some point that a guest will drop some bars that turn your favorite record into some seriously hurt feelings. Even now the misogyny and homophobia is still pretty staggering. I don't think two wrongs make it right, but I just am sitting back watching a lot people clutching their pearls over disrespecting certain communities, while turning a totally blind eye to the fact that PLENTY of hip hop records encourage and support straight up violence against women and other minorities. It's kinda hypocritical if you ask me. You either grant artists license to hold and express whatever views they want, or you don't. Hatred isn't only damaging when it's directed at certain people.

    The only thing I don't like about Noname and most leftists is their self righteousness. They put themselves on this crazy pedestal and when ppl find out they're imperfect just like everybody else they turn on them. Leftists have a hard time with understanding someone's humanity and their ability to make moral mistakes or have moral disagreements. This why ppl don't like leftists a lot of the time because it's like you can't fuck up or have a different opinion. Let's even say Noname knows Jay on a personal level and understands his views are nuanced, leftists wouldn't like it. People are now trying to invalidate all of her work based on this one thing, so unforgiving

    • @chief-long-john
      @chief-long-john Год назад +12

      BUT, in this case like I said Noname got her just desserts. Her self righteousness amplified the response. Cole and Kendrick don't put themselves up to this level, in fact Kendrick even rationalized his humanity and told us essentially for a whole album that he makes mistakes, a lot of em, moral or otherwise. You can shit on his world views (like Noname did) and it wouldn't hold real weight because he's told you he's imperfect and he's told you he has views that oppose yours. Let he without sin cast the first stone.

    • @HotTaiCurry
      @HotTaiCurry Год назад +6

      I won’t lie, I actually agree. It’s kinda across the board on the left too. Many people forget the people they idolize were not paragons. They did and said problematic things. Leaders are not meant to be perfect, they step up to the plate when nobody else can.
      That being said, it would be a lot easier if they allowed themselves to be flawed instead of needing to attempt to be perfect paragons all the time that must do no wrong. The amount of times I straight up say “I didn’t know that” or “I don’t know, I’ll have to look into that later” is too many to count. If I genuinely don’t know anything about something, I just don’t need to speak on it. And if I feel the need to speak on it, I can always add the caveat that I’m not especially well versed and need to do some looking later.

What matters is what you actually DO politically and where you send money, not what you think, who you hang with or even most of what you say. It's not wrong to acknowledge the contradictions but if one thinks they're a purer champion for working class black people then I think we would all welcome them stepping up by organizing or donating their time and money like no name does. Stop apologizing and attacking other black people as a so called virtue signal.

      Yeah true. If I’m being real, even a caliphate in the Arab world apologized on behalf of being the progenitors to race based slavery, apologizing to black people.
      America doesn’t even have a unified apology for the atrocities and human experimentation they did on black people, they kinda just say “move along”. It’d be a lot easier to have more love for other groups if black people got even a modicum of the good will people demand we give to them.

      @@ShawnCeeLIVE Noname's a activist challenging white supremacy and socialism.......I really don't think she gives a fuck that much about Jay Electronica going "my religion is better than yours and we're the real jews"
      I'm not necessarily a religious person so idrc and I doubt Noname does either, but his religion calls hostility towards Jews the same way Christianity calls hostility to gay people, black people, and Satanists. The same way Jews calls hostility to Palestinians. I personally don't see why this verse should be taken any more seriously than we take those hostilities that I just mentioned.
      But again, NONE of this has to do with Noname's agenda of dismantling white supremacy and capitalism to provide sustainable wages, food, education, and shelter to everyone through socialism. Maybe I'm just not understanding where a debate of petty religious wars works exclusively against that agenda.

      She could be the most educated person on earth. It all doesn’t mean nothing if she keeps about going herself in a scum - like manner and degrading people and throwing a tantrum at everyone who disagrees with her like an actual woman child. She needs attention, and she wants people to give her flowers. Actual leaders don’t crave attention. She’s a fraud.

      I dont think they should, but a lot of that understanding comes down to history being told for Europe, by Europe. If we take a whole holistic view of history however, the Jewish role in America's story becomes more clear: It comes down to what Hitler did and what _he took and extrapolated from Jim Crow_ to accomplish.
