@ Art Vandelay.. when my brother and I were young boys, our grandmother would use breck when she shampooed our hair. I always thought too feminine smelling for us boys .

    I loved this stuff.
It's interesting to note the appearance of Nancy Fragione, who played the wicked Cecile on Another World soap opera and was occasionally appearing as Fran's friend on The Nanny. The redheaded is Rebecca Holden, a popular character actress in the late 70's through the eighties. Also, I think that's Sela Ward.

That's not Sela Ward, it's model/actress Joan Severance. She posted a comment on this video stating that she was the 2nd model in this commercial.

@@niceguy5976Yep. You're right. That's Joan Severance. She did a lot of modeling. I spotted her walking the runway for a Halston show back in the very early 80's. Possibly or more likely, 1979.

My grandmother used nothing but breck and that pink creme rinse if she didn't get to her beauty shop. I remember as a kid staying at her place and sometimes, she'd shampoo my hair with breck. I hated the smell, thought it was too femenine smelling for a boy

Strange to think shampoo used to only come in a glass bottle.

By 1978 most shampoos were in plastic, I think prell was the first to make this break through.. I'll try to find the commercial and send link.
Here it is, the husband whips the shampoo at her face... lol

So many products did come in glass containers.. I remember well Breck came in a glass bottle.. my grandmother used it and when my brother and I were kids.. my grandmother used Breck when she washed our hair.. And when we’d go to this old lady beautician on our street for haircuts .. she would shampoo our hair using Prell .. it was in glass as well .. and I remember when she was shampooing my hair she’d use a big handful of Prell .. it made lots of squishy lather on my head as I recall .. then it came concentrate in a plastic tube and she started using that when she washed our hair..and still made lots of lather with just a little bit

i know this is a shampoo commercial... so i feel silly asking this...but HOW did they get their hair like that back in the day?!

Love the volume? From my research, late 70s hairstyles generally skipped conditioner, and usually used either wet rollers for overnight curling, or hot rollers for immediate curls (Though heated roller brushes are also authentic!). Then they'd just brush it out and fluff it out!

I don't think it was the Breck. The models obviously washed their hair with Breck first to avoid false advertising, but then spent some serious time in the beauty parlor before shooting the commercial.

Beauty Salon, they all had "permanents" done. In the 1980s & 1990s too. The Permanent breaks up the bonds in the hair shaft, making it more fluffy & bouncy.
