CCS students Design the new Model T

This past semester, eleven CCS Transportation Design students from around the world put themselves in Henry Ford's shoes, delivering vehicle concepts capable of providing affordable transportation and the social impact on par with the car that started it all, the Ford Model T.

A good project, with nice results...BUT...the original Model T was bone-simple, could be driven anywhere, and fixed by a blacksmith with a third-grade education. Think about it; the original didn't have a battery, distributor, water pump, oil pump, fuel pump, starter, generator, gauges...it was the most basic distillation of what an automobile could be. Styled or not, the original T was form-follows-function purity. I would have liked to see the T rethought as an SUV as pure as the original.
