    I hear you yogi but I have one question: How has yoga actually helped India for all the millenia of practice? It seems like neither a peaceful, happy or wealthy country. My mind can't accept that yoga is helpful for this reason.

  • @raghavarvoltore6517
    @raghavarvoltore6517 2 года назад

    Sorry I don't totally agree with you on the origins of yoga. In the video you made the claim that yoga was practice in the IVC, which there is evidence for, and later this lineage of yogic practices was recorded in the Vedic texts. There is a lot of problems with this based on recently scholarly research on Indian history.
    The book titled "Greater Magadha" by Johannes Bronkhorst argues yoga has its origins in Eastern India ( Magadha) but absent in the early Vedas and that later Vedic corpus, the Upanishads, are based on the infleunce of the Eastern traditions. Many other scholars are of the same opinion ie James Mallinson. The problems that arises from this is that the IVC seal you shown which depicts a man in a yoga posture are claimed to be some proto-yoga. Because it could not have developed then. To solve this problem is to solve it chronologically.
    The dating of the Vedic texts need to be re-evaluated and there must be a rejection of the AIT/AMT model, which is the mainstream model that places the Vedic culture after the IVC. There are many research scholars like Shrikant Talageri and Nicholas who have dated the RV and later texts as early as 3000+BCE. This will certainly leads us to conclude that IVC was Vedic or a post Vedic civilization and there is no need for us to conjure up that IVC and Vedic culture is different. So this will mean the IVC seal which shows a man in a yoga posture is yoga and not some proto-yoga.

      I'm Hindu and proud of my cultural heritage, I can't speak for others, but happy to speak for what we stand by at Yogic Gurukul. It's one of the major reasons we create content on Yoga and Indic philosophy, because we believe in it.

      @@dharmayogaashram979 Swami ji can be called as hinduism because saint and rishi munis invented it or just say practiced it but we all Hindu's also don't know what is true yoga it is the harmony of our mind with our body and our intellect , it has nothing to do with religion. Yes but we say it is part our culture but we ourselves are not balanced and in harmony. It just a humble request don't divide yoga too as each one of us whether Hindu or not are in need of balance and harmony.

      @@dharmayogaashram979 yes I know as in bhagwad Geeta by Lord Krishna, by patanjali or by Guru Vashishtha to Lord Ram. I'm not confused with yoga and its connection with our religion. But yes as a human being made up of same panch tatva I'm really confused with the division of the society, the community and discrimination that is of great interest always spreading hatred among us. And as a immature and inexperienced I really don't want to see yoga with a particular religion and that is what I mostly listen read that we humans have been dividing everything. But this time I really want myself in harmony and Yeap I pretty much clear with history of yoga and I agree too. But from my opinion it's true value is for everyone and is enough.
