Jimmy...I feel for you. To follow this tutorial you need to know all about "Appearance Panels (AP)." I too didn't get "Appearance Panels," but after going through several tutorials I finally got it. AP and the Pen tool are the heart of Illustrator. In addition "type" has several levels (drawers) in the AP. When working with type and fonts, I still have to double check to make sure I am in "Character" or "Type." Anyway, the following tip that the keyboard shortcut of "." gets you into gradient panel, is the highlight of this entire tutorial. Thanks!!!! Just finished viewing the spanish version of this tutorial. Is Sebastian the same person doing the "voice over?" He has now become my favorite tutorial person for Illustrator. He's even funnier than Von Glitscka. He makes Illustrator so much fun. He must be a blast working with/for. I love the spanish version of this tutorial! I spent summers in Panama with my grandma, so I know Spanish, but I don't know "tech spanish" so that was a great learning lesson. AstuteGraphics keep using this guy!!! ....sorry, get rid of the British woman artist. I need cc's to follow her English. Great artist, poor teacher.

Thanks for feedback. This tutorial was also a fantastic learning tutorial about using the gradients and gradient tool!!! I always have trouble with gradients, and always amazed at artists that use tons of gradients in their artwork. For me, the dialog box always disappears, the gradient goes the direction it wants, the colors I need, I cant find, it's always a pain and it 's something I avoid. Now I use the "." command, and just type in the direction of my gradient in the dialog box, viola!!! I find that it is these extra little tips that are the cool thing about following tutorials from Master Illustrators.
