My parents imported that 2 door S from hong kong where they bought it new . It was silver and the colour has been changed since . Good to see its still around .
Nice cars...i was at a car yard in late eighties,,, some one traded a mark 4... while I was signing the papers on a vh commodore,,,i heard the group of salesmen talking about the 454 it had... and the term sleeper haunts me, i was asleep,,, should have stop,,i have changed my mind....i will buy that cortina.
The 2 door shells are pommy ones. They are also flat firewall ones, not recessed ones like most Aussie one were. Did you even get the sixes?? I suspect not. Far better shell, a lot more rigid for not much weigh penalty. They all however are only a smooth road car. As a dealer I have owned all models, TC TD TE TF. The Mk1 with oh what a feeling would be better with a 302. Which is probably lighter as well and defenitly more powerfull with a 4bbl etc. A Ford V8 has the dissy drive the oil pump. 302Ws are a smaller hex than a Clevo. DONT use a high volume oil pump. If you have stripped the roll pin you would be very lucky. Cheap dissys are NOT compatible with most camshafts. The metal on the gear eats up the camshaft gear. If in doubt use a bronze gear. Seen them fail way too often. As I saw Holden 6 aftermarket HV pumps.
Very cool. I always have a soft spot for the MK 3 as I have fond recollections of my late father rallying one around the lanes back in the day.
