Every performer practices 'Upaj' that is- The way he perceives a raga or a composition based on it and how further he improves it by his intellect or inner instincts and personality. However, Mozart or beethoven cannot be played differently is because they made Symphonies.... not compositions. They made it as their own and stamped it with their tag which makes it untouchable. Classical compositions have every person's personal way of presenting it. Taans, Aalaps are not prewritten anywhere. All that is given is notation of that Raga and that is what you imbibe to develop yourself into an artist. So what goes on up here is a more devotional version of Bibhaas and how Aruna didi perceives it to be.
