Was this an RTK mission? I’m assuming it was not, I know that you used an RTK phantom but was this post processed using your GCP’s? I’m trying to understand. Is there a video where you explain this particular workflow and which software you’re using? Thanks so much for these amazing videos.
RTK it s a method of survey using the satellites for positioning in the real time. Basically what he did was surveying the land, collecting all the data and using the ground control points he georeferenced his project later.
Piggy-backing off @Alex Botea, Rami's drone is capable of RTK but he likely performed post processing (PPK). The drone captures a log in RINEX format and of course the images. He can then take the logs captured via the drone, a base station log and GCP coordinates to obtain relative / absolute accuracy. The software would then update the drone images meta-data with the corrected GPS coordinates. Your photogrammetry software would stitch all of those images together to create one huge image, a 3D point cloud, etc.. The objective is a product having centimeter level accuracy (dependent upon your ground sampling distance (GSD)). He could've also program his drone to use the RTK capabilities via NTRIP as he sometimes does. If he did use the RTK via NTRIP, he likely skipped showing us that part because the video was focused on providing a high-level account of him surveying a land-fill using GCPs. You can find some really detailed, step-by-step tutorials on his channel.
When will the link be added? I'd love to see what it looks like as a processed product. Great video. Liked and Subbed. Looking forward to upcoming content.
Nice to see a landfill right up against some wetlands. lol. Great filming. Nice editing. Good storytelling. Detailed how-to. Engaging. So what's not to like. The music. But that's personal.
Nice. couple questions, how were the points established...predetermined?, random?, boundary?, previously surveyed?, points where straight lines changed direction? second question, why didn't you set up the base gnss receiver for cm accuracy?
He's using state plane system. He's setting random points in relation to that. From my experience this data is not tied into the actual deeded Boundary. It never shows him locating property corners.
The location of the points were somewhat random, but they are spread out. Meaning I made sure there were points along the outside of the project, and points at the highest and lowest points. I am not doing a boundary survey, so I am just mapping the areas that were requested by the client. I don't use a local base station, I connect through NTRIP to the Michigan CORS network for my corrections.
@@RamiTamimi For just mapping projects, not surveys, do you feel most clients accept around 1 to 2.5 foot accuracy levels. I am not a registered surveyor, but I have been in GIS for over 25 years, so I don't want to present or offer cm accuracy levels. My EVO II Pro Enterprise will produce 1 to 2.5 foot horizontal accuracy with a RTK unit and NOT connected to NTRIP. Yes, vertical is adjusted to best local source found.
I saw 1/200 at one point for your shutter speed. I prefer to fly shutter priority between 1/400 - 600 and have the iso as the variable. Sharper images without any motion blur vs less grain as well as the ability to fly lower to better the gsd.
I see that you push down on your targets when taking the GCP shot. How do you match up the elevation to the shot. I always assumed I needed to have the center of the target at the same height? Or was the elevation tolerance for the project not that restrictive?
Hello at 7:31 you have a 70m and 7 m/s, at 9:21 you have shoter speed from 1/500 to 1/200. But for a good image (motion blur) you must take a shooter speed 1/700 or mor short!
Question on where you know to put the GCPs? Does the engineer have posts showing where they are do you just out the target? Then i see you save the GCPs on emlid flow correct? Thab how do you put it to the remote control so the drone knows how to fly it? Would be great of a more detailed showing how to save amd capture GCPs, how you got to the GCPs targets, how you installed the coordinates to the remote control?

Probably good for volumetric calculations but for an actual survey, does not determine property boundary, pick up hidden utilities in weeds, buried drainage pipe sizes/types, headwalls, utilities, tree caliper and species, etc. It has it's limitations.
