I visited Montreal once in the 70s. I went to the Forum and bought tickets to 2 games of the Bleu-Blanc-Rouge, the junior team. I started to leave the ticket office, stopped, and went back to the window. What about the Canadiens game on Monday night? Yes! It’s Monday and they are playing the California Golden Seals. That night was magical. I’ve been to several games at Centre Bell, but it’s not the same. The mystique of the Forum.
I'm an American that lived in Montreal in the early 90's. I'm blessed to have seen a couple of games at the old forum. I was disgusted when the Habs moved.
When the Forum opened in 1924 the Canadiens played only ONE game. The Habs returned to their home l'Aréna Mont-Royal (Mount Royal Arena) until 1926 when they made the permanent move to the Forum.
when i think of the Forum ,think of all the great players who played there for Montreal and the other team, Danny Galivan the greatest hockey announcer and Dan Kelly another great announcer who learned under Galivan , Roger Doucet singing O Canada
At the end the Forum, as well as the Boston Garden and the Olympia and Maple Leaf Gtardes and Municipal Auditorium in Buffalo, was a dump that needed replaced. A great, but still a dump. It needed replaced.
Yeah of course everything ends up needing to be replaced eventually but this video isn't about that. Its about the home of the greatest hockey organization in the history of the sport.

This was really charming and interesting!

The hot dogs were indeed legendary.🏒🏒
One of my biggest regrets was never being able to make the trek to the Forum from the state of Washington to watch a game.

The Habs’ new building is indeed Bell Centre now, but at the time it was Molson Centre. Otherwise great video! 👍👍

Excellent job of researching!
Thank god I was raised to understand the importance of this arena and I will raise my own with the same respect for it
My first live game at the Forum vs Minnesota. Didn't watch the game till the second period. Paid more attention to the atmosphere.

The video is about what a shrine it was but you think it's a dump. You're nuts
The day they moved to the Molson centre is when I felt disconnected with the Habs.........the new building never had a soul
