Totally. Most cards are volatile assets that usually only retain niche value. Occasionally you'll find something, like the Mahomes rookies, that breaks into "blue chip" status where its value will rarely ever decrease. That's why this is a "collector's hobby" not an investment/business one.
The fact that Trey Lance’s silver prizm goes for more than De’aaron Fox is insane. Completely INSANE!!! De’aaron is a top 15-17 player in the NBA and lance is a 3rd string qb
Would be interesting to see if the percentages are the same with their autos. Maybe you can do the Optic base auto for each player. I think they transact enough to show a pattern. Silvers have lost alot of their shine for buyers and sellers throughout the years.

Football is qb only with the few exceptions. The football AND basketball markets are weak for investing. They are both in a deep bear market because of the qb and hyped players performance.
I would stay far away from Young. The Panthers top WR, Thelen, is a FA. Legette is probably a #2 WR at best, other than him there is no good WR on the team. No good TEs. The left tackle, Ekwonu, is not getting better, ranked 38 of 141 OTs by PFF, allowed 7 sacks after allowing 6 and 11 his first two seasons. Their 2nd round pick RB Brooks tore his ACL AGAIN, so they had to sign the very average RB Hubbard to a big deal. They put A LOT of money in their OGs and DT Derrick Brown, so not a lot for skill position players. Aside from their needs on offense, they need 2 DEs, at least 2 LBs, and a whole new secondary.
