@@Indigazure Yeah, Emma Watson is an example that looks don't always mean everything, Emma looked similar to Belle but that's pretty much it. She lacked the personality, charm, and singing voice for Belle's character and it fell flat. Energy is really important when it comes to characters like these, that's why Halle is a perfect, not only is her voice a godsend, but even when watching the teasers, you can tell she has a playful and bubbly personality, and it really reminds me of the animated one. She's also cute and fits for a princess type look, not super on topic but still lol.
The director said she set the bar, and no one could match it! Now even the haters can't deny her talents!

That was my EXACT thought. The original one is always going to be great, but this is sung in a way that is TRULY done for a musical. You could take this performance, just as it is, stick it on the biggest Broadway stage, and it would translate PERFECTLY. She killed it

I'm a classically trained vocalist and this girl has it. Jodie really set the bar. Sierra followed up wonderfully onstage. However, I bet we're about to see something really vocally special and amazing on film. I can't wait.

She’s just belting. Jodie, you felt her words. Halle is technically a great singer, but, like Ariana Grande, has little emotion.
In the original, the director had to pull the emotion out of Jodi… so precise. Just watch the director work with Jodie.
Halle is new(ish) especially when she filmed the movie. She will season as she matures and will get there!

@@Keliiyamashita Your opinion is definitely the minority because everyone I talked to (me included) was either crying or on the verge of tears in the theaters. I was crying just from listening to the sound track. Halle is most definitely NOT new to this. She's been acting and singing since childhood. And I don't think she's just belting it sounds more like a very strong mix.
@@salomeshelise33 listen to both versions again. Halle is over singing even the soft parts of the song. It’s more broadway style.
I also love people's reaction to Halle's subtle, yet gorgeous vibrato when she sings the words, "gadgets and gizmos", "who cares", "big deal" and that lovely reinterpretation of "feet".
I would love to see a reaction complication of those moments too!

@@whoasked6696 Yeah, there is a reason for this vibrato where it emphasize what Ariel trully wants and this vibrato just enhanced it almost like she no longer needs human world, she wants it.
I getting teary eyed. So proud of Halle. I saw her grow up on RUclips and been a fan of Chloe x Halle. I always had a special connection with her voice cause she loves jazz like me. I’m so glad she finally has the opportunity to share her talent with the world!
This is what should happen to our souls when we hear a Disney princess sing, and Halle is the first Disney live action singer/actress who I truly believe fit her role. In both the movie and in real life…she is a true Disney princess inside out.

I swear, this will be Disney's best performing live action Princess movie. Just Halle's vocals alone are enough to tell me that this movie will be massive.

I would respectfully disagree. Halle Bailey’s rendition might be technically better but Jodie Benson’s was perfect dynamically and emotionally when looking at the lyrics and realizing what the song is actually about. You could tell she was definitely a cover singer on RUclips. She tries to emulate Jodie Benson’s rendition in some parts while trying to add her own color in other parts. It seemed like she didn’t know where to take the song on an emotional level.

I wasn't a really big fan of The Little Mermaid when I was a child, I was born after the animated version release. In cinemas I watched the spanish version and omg I let out TEARS and I just listened to Halle's version and almost made me get tears in my eyes. The emotion, the desperation feels through her voice

What a siren should sound like, including Jodie benson’s version. Also, Ppl unfamiliar with theatre don’t understand in musicals and plays ppl are casted by their conviction and believability versus gender and race. This very reason is why actresses of color have played old white males in some Shakespeare plays etc. and it’s not bc they didn’t have enough actors. Its talent and believability. These old animated films I grew up on are musicals and I’m happy to see that we can interchange roles for the sake of talent. Think of all the artists we missed out or are missing out on bc “Hollywood” was worried about casting outside of the status quo.

I recently saw Dancing to Disney, and one of the 2 female dancers danced to Hailee’s version of “Part of Your World”, I had tears in my eyes, because Hailee’s version, combined with the dancer’s performance was so beautiful, emotional, and powerful. I heard Hailee’s sound of hope, dreams and desire in her vocals. The higher notes to me sound like “I want this for myself so bad!”. I didn’t cry like this at the show 😭, but more like this 😢. I will forever love and call Miss Jodi as my original Ariel/musical theatre idol, but Hailee took Part of Your World to church! Hailee and Melissa both need & deserve to be on the Broadway stage, because they’re amazing triple threats in the movie.
Granted nothing could ever take the original’s place in my heart, but Halle’s voice is like that of a goddess!
