Maria should be Beatrice's successor as the Golden Witch as she's quite clever despite her age and childish personality not to mention kind and caring but can be creepy and scary at times. She'd fit the role of the Golden Witch quite well in my opinion or at least become a powerful Witch of some kind
God I love Erika's voice acting here. Her seiyuu truly managed to capture her wicked yet still serious personality. She sounds so confident and mean, I adore her voice so much! Poor Maria, though...
Erika was quite viscous sounding here and on other occasions. When she made Maria cry, I wanted to slap Erika across the face and tell her off royally for making Maria cry.
And I imagine them going "Nipah!" to each other all at once before doing the same to the viewer while smiling and winking cutely causing the viewer to break through the screen and glomp them!

It's a recreation of a scene in umineko no naku koro ni chiru where Erika and Maria debate whether Beatrice's magic is real or not. In the VN, Erika taunts Maria and forces her to defend her point by showing her a manifestation of Beatrice's magic, Maria claimed Beatrice performed magic by putting an empty cup on a table upside down and when she lift it, candy poured out of the cup. Erika then asks Maria to perform the same trick which she does. Then she gets Maria to confirm that the table and cup aren't set up, which she claims in the red truth. Erika then sets up Maria by asking her if she (Erika) performed the same trick, it would prove that what she witnessed wasn't magic (since she's human). She then asks Maria to chant the magic incantation which she does, after she does, she points out that whenever Maria says the incantation she closes her eyes, Maria explains that it's because humans mustn't witness the miracle of magic, hence there's a rule that says humans must close their eyes when using magic. Erika then asks Maria to lift the cup, to Maria's surprise there's a candy underneath the cup. Erika then asks Maria to confirm it was magic, which she does. Predictably, she then backstabs Maria with the Blue truth that she just threw a candy underneath the cup while Maria had her eyes closed which contradicts her claim to have witnessed magic.That's why in 1:08 there's an upside down cup. To add insult to injury, she claims in red truth that Beatrice's magic is just a sleight of hand that she called magic. Hopefully for Maria, Sakutarou (the yellow animal at 2:04) uses the blue truth to counter Erika's red truth by saying that while her trick was a sleight of hand, it doesn't prove that the trick Maria witnessed wasn't actual magic. Erika tries to argue further but Dlanor steps in and mentions that the argument is unecessary and ends the fight.
ryan macdonald Erika really enjoys trampling other people's feelings and theories when they don't match with hers. . She's really a cruel, unsympathetic person, but also a very well written character.
Reality warpers mostly don't physically show their power in boisterous ways. Only described as such. To be fair animation budget and the medium of story telling limitations makes it really hard to portray them as flashyly powerful.
I'll be the one to say that it doesn't really matter how strong they seem lmao most of the fights in Umineko are very trivial and operate on dream logic, which is pretty much intentionnal there are certain rules, of course, but most of the time they exist to be broken or messed around with it's not a battle-focused story after all
Goku's stupidity give erika terminal 7 brain cancer which she ultimately lead to her death. Battler thank Goku ridden the menace and everyone live happily ever after.
