I was 17 years old when I heard Karabonov's music for the first time. it's 1980. At that time, West Coast music was popular, and I liked her singing voice and songs very gently. 43 years have passed since then, and now when I listen to her songs, I feel like a high school girl I can go back.
i saw her in chicago, around may 1, at the old town school of folk music. simply grand, very touching, spot on, a lovely time. there is a wonderful sense of wholeness to her, and her presentation. she'd chat a bit, tell a song's story, and then play and sing. her accompaniment played extraordinarily well. if you have the chance -- go. if she's not nearby -- travel. she and her songs are treasures.
The voice still as sweet as ever. The one time I saw her live, I couldn't stop crying. It's been over 20 years since then, and she still gets me teary-eyed.
@ショウジpjcisum This is SO GREAT - but why on earth this inferior video quality??? A 2005 professional multi-camera recording and then an upload with such a (sorry!) lousy image resolution . . . I just don't get it. I wish this concert would be available with a fine picture - Karla deserves it!
She plays in many small venues, like freight & salvage in berkeley CA. Recorded quality isnt the best or easiest in such venues but have you done any better with it? Be grateful for this loveliness instead of complaining.
@@1asset Dear Sir or Madam, you've got me completely wrong! To clear things out: I wasn't complaining about the footage or the video as such at all (it's simply great, as I mentioned). But without a doubt it's been filmed in absolutely fine picture quality. I was just voicing my disappointment about the fact that it's been uploaded with a rather poor 240p image resolution. The original source video is definitely of better quality and it should've been presented in an appropriately superior resolution. That's not up to the filming or the folks who filmed it, but to the uploader. And I think that's a pity, because Karla's performance is top notch and the source video surely is as well. Having said that, I'm nevertheless absolutely grateful for the footage being around at all.
