This is almost pure Billie Holliday redone. It proves to me that Angelina's best talent is not her voice but her EAR. She's incorporated all the little things that Billie did with this song without even realizing it. She does not do them exactly the same but resynthesizes them anew. This is a talent in itself. (She also does this with many other singers, you get a whole history of jazz vocals when you listen to Angelina!)

is truly part of her inner soul and has been since she began singing it at 1-1/2.

began with jazz 'specifically' when she was 1-1/2. I know her
intro to jazz comes from her grandmother's love of it, for you
can even see her in the NGT audience waving a sign for AJ ,
that included a photo of Louis Armstrong. If AJ herself told
Rosie O'Donnell on 'The View', this is how she started, any
statement of doing Whitney Houston makes no sense unless
it was a jazz song by Whitney that she first heard and sang.

She's 1 1/2 years old here.....In the interview with Rosie, she said she started singing very young at 1 1/2. When Rosie asked her if she remembered her first song, Angelina answered: "I started with jazz." I believe she was responding to how her initial interest in singing began, and could not remember the first song she ever sang (see how long she hesitates before replying). I don't think she considered I Will Always Love You as her first song having referenced this performance in an interview as "mostly mumbling".

guess work that fits your narrative when you insert your comments
but the fact remains she distinctively said 'jazz' being her 'first song'
and with that being the case, it would have to be a jazz song. Maybe
Billie Holiday but I don't presume to know for sure, as you seem to
think you can. Also, don't discount 'out of hand' that this first song
wasn't one her grandmother, and not her mother or uncle, brought
forth to her first.

Angelina has an amazing voice which is wonderful to listen to, (amazing considering its an acoustically disasterous venue with a $10 microphone !) - but no matter - she still sounds wonderful. Thanks for posting - we've not seen much of Angelina recently, and this a great Christmas Present.

I totally adore this girl .. her voice is out of this world .. but I did not like the band playing ALL OF ME with such a light, almost frivalous beat . Angelina is accustomed to really singing all these songs, sometimes in a more profoundly emotional way than the originals .. so how could someone truly sing the words of ALL OF ME, which are pained and profound, with that light jazz beat. I do not believe they would have played it that way for any adult jazz singer. Doing this to Angelina does not allow her to do what she does best .. which is truly move the listener .. she had to bop through this song and not really feel it.
The sing may be understood as pained and profound but why not it be understood like the song of love and happiness by Angelina herself. Doesn't it basically say "I love you so much that I belong to you completely, even now when you went away"? What is about pain there? Love is the most part here. Why do you think the lyrics character has lost her person if love, that person might just go far away temporarily. Remember "Every Time We Say Goodbye"? Why do you think these are the different goodbyes?
@Reg Dewitt I know you are right. I know she does it as she feels it. It is just my opinion on this particular song. I personally would love to hear them do it differently. It's an emotional thing i have with this particular song is all.
