One critique I will offer is you're dropping your bombs late. Bombers that carpet bomb drop earlier, around when the reticle hits the wall of the compound, then your bombs will land across the entire compound. If you wait until the reticle is in the middle of the target, you will miss half the target. It's a different mechanic from single bombs with big splash radius. And you can't turn while the bombs are dropping, the bombs will go all directions.
I think the JU88 is pretty good. You can definitely carry a game with it; I average 42k points of damage per match with a high of 90k after 26 matches. It's certainly capable.
If you think through the mechanics of carpet bombing you can see why you drop just as you approach the target. Will make all the difference.

I appreciate the feedback, I'm still learning for sure! I have started carpet bombing better, this recording of from two weeks ago and I've gotten pretty okay in the Do 17 at tier VI. I didn't realize that the turn would spread them but I suppose that makes sense

Ju-88 is actually really good as an orbital bomber - once it is specialized and with a proper bomb sight. You should bomb from about 3000 m, engaging brakes and flaps so that you get close to stall while dropping. This will further increase the accuracy. When a heavy engages you, you can easily climb up to 3500 m where only the P-38F can follow, and even that plane will become so slow up there that I've tickled many to death with some maneuvering and defensive gunnery. I actually got most of my Lang medals in this plane with little effort using these tactics. That being said, I've pretty much stopped playing this plane since bots were programmed to headhunt bombers. I ended up spending too much time crawling at extreme altitudes where the bombing gets ineffective, while a bot heavy circles below... Which is even more boring than the usual bomber gameplay.
I also like the plane because my country (Finland) operated a bunch of these from my home town against the soviets during WW2. Nowadays there's only a restored hangar left, and a single restored engine from a plane that crashed into a lake. Without the history I would probably have gone for the Do 217 instead, just like everyone else.

    Warning, Wall of Text
i quite like the Do 17 Z and the Ju 88 A, probably mainly because i've mastered the playstyle. For one: don't bother with airfields, just go to garrisons or bigger. the only A2G class that should be bothered with airfields are GAAs since their guns are perfect for the soft targets of the airfield, but even then, destroying ground targets on airfields yields very little progress towards capture. But yeah Do 17 and Ju 88 their bombs are on the weaker side still once you know how many strings to drop where really helps. For small targets armored and non armored you only need one string ( 4 bombs) for medium targets you need 2 strings ( 8 bombs) or 3 for the more heavily armored ones, but drop 2 first. and the really big targets may take anything from 3 to 4 strings, your best bet is to go for the medium targets first as you're more likely to destroy them and get more points for it. while you don't want to orbit in your Do 17 or Ju 88, you may want to stay in the higher altitude band, at that altitude most fighters won't bother coming for you and you only have to worry about heavy fighters that way, but even you can just put an F4 on them and boost away. Make sure to build your gunner for critical hit chance. Your plan with low tier gunners isn't to kill but to incapacitate a broken wing and a broken engine sets any heavy fighter back a few hundred meters in distance and altitude.
I always perform really well in my bombers that way and my Do 17 and Ju 88 aren't even specialist and i tend to get 10k+ points more often than not. for those bombers i would probably go for reload speed once i actually have them specialized.

Bomber pilots - should you take out the repair facility at an airfield?

If the red team has just capped it, yes. Otherwise, no. That's my rule of thumb, at any rate.

You are going to regret leaving the Ju 88! Its an amazing plane! The ones that follow are only good on dive bombing or when specialist with the bomb sight!BUT, when you reach the Ju 287 all this suffering will just puuuffff dissapear!Glad to finally see you getting your hands on the bombers...i was one of the people that complained on the foroums against their existance a year ago...but now, i carry games on them, specialy in high tiers that are borderline overpowered. I cant tell you some of them worth keeping but it works differently from person to person

There's definitely a learning curve. The more I play them the more I learn. I quite like the tier VI so far.

@@PostalMonkey Its by no means bad....but when you are used on having 12 and 15k score games on bombers and you do 7k on the Do 217...something is off.The fact that it used to be amazing and then i got nerfed must be one of the reasons why i gave up on it...and the Pe-2 suits me better

I don't have that one, I skipped the low and mid tiers by jumping into the tier VII from the Me 410...

German bombers are my least favorite line. Really bad defensive turrets until you get to t9. t9 plane is fun though, worth grinding to I think.

Not a huge fan of low tier German bombers. Their biggest weakness is their useless tailgunners. Oh well, maybe I should give them another go

I'm ok with never seeing the Ju 88A again. I am liking the Do 17 @ tier VI, for what that's worth.

@@PostalMonkey the bombs are nicer on that tier 6 plane. But the tail gunner still just feels so lackluster
