The singer of Time to Make History has a name. Shihoko Hirata. If you’re discussing Persona music and want some credibility you might wanna give these legendary ladies their due.
As someone coming from the SMT series, the battle themes of modern Persona really rubs me in the wrong place, hence why I prefer the themes of P2 and PSX P1. Though, I won't say that the music is bad, as stand alones, the musics are amazing, but in the midst of battle, they can't be more unfitting for me. I am also biased on the fact that P2 is my favorite game of all time, so having the modern persona going astray from it kinda feels infuriating. 1. Definitely P2IS 2. P2EP 3. P1 PSX 4. P1 PSP 5. P3 FES 6. P5 7. P3 PSP 8. P3 9. P4 10. p5 royal 11. p4 golden
To be perfectly honest, the decision to go for vocal battle themes in the Persona games is something that I really, really hate. Yes, they're catchy as hell the first time you listen to them. But the thing is, vocal battle themes also start to really get on your nerves so much faster than instrumental battle themes, and for an RPG, that's not a good thing at all. The first time I listened to battle themes like Reach Out To The Truth or Mass Destruction, I genuinely liked them and thought they were cool. Before I was even halfway through the game, the themes were getting on my nerves like crazy, and to this day they are my biggest opponents in ever trying to replay the games. Meanwhile, the stuff from P1/P2 (especially P2) aged a lot more gracefully - even today, I find myself enjoying them just as much if not even more than when I first listened to them. Persona Q 2 is just about the only game that actually did vocal themes correctly - and that was because it had the option to randomly shuffle between up to 13 battle themes (and one of them didn't actually have vocals), so things stayed just fresh enough throughout the remainder of the game, even for the songs I had already gotten tired of beforehand.

I'm still not over how they replaced Last Surprise in P5R... Yes, I know it's still there, but I almost always surprise my enemies so I almost never hear it anymore.
The way that my list is basically the exact opposite of yours 💀💀 (except for A Lone Prayer would be in the bin where it belongs)
HOLY SHIT 2 UPLOADS IN ONE WEEK LETS GOO
i like take over, but i like last surprise much better, that beginning instrumental hits so damn hard
i liked it to the point that when playing royal i make sure that the enemies detect me instead of ambushing them so I can hear it in the fight XD
Take Over > Last Surprise
Exactly
True
Probably because Last Surprise gets old
Nuh uh
Nuh uh
@@expressience Fym nuh uh?
My personal favorite is "Pull the Trigger"
I LIED!!! IT'S NOW ASS DESTRUCTION AHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA
Mass destruction is my favorite, but I can’t justify you placing Take Over so low, I personally like it so much better than Last Surprise
omg brother
Its Going Down Now has taken my #1 spot
I agree with a lot of your points on this fr. Mass destruction is solid. Lone prayer sounds pretty sick. Persona 3 portable’s is cool. Even though I’ve heard it way too much I enjoy last surprise it’s so groovy and recognizable.
I love the innocent sin battle theme, good list tho!
Will power is my favorite battle theme tbh. Just wish it didnt only play during persona awakenings
I woulda put Take Over a little higher personally, but the real hot take is that Reach out to the Truth(First Battle) is just a straight upgrade on the base song.
the only thing about last surprise is after playing new game+ 7 times over it drives me insane but its an absolute banger
last surprise as number 1 lol
Lone prayer is way too repetitive. I hear it a bit too. Much and it's short
i was trying to think of my own ranking then i realised i hate all of these songs because ive heard them way too much in their annoying, repetitive battles
Damn I really wanted the know your placing for Light the fire up in the night
Why do we “miss” Shoji Meguro? He never did much in the spinoff games while he was with Atlus and all indications are that he will be the main composer of P6. He has stated that he will compose exclusively for Atlus for the foreseeable future and is the lead composer of Metaphor Re: Fantazio.
All this music is bussin, respectfully of course
If Royal gave us the option to change the music for battles, I'd almost always be blasting Willpower. Take Over is cool and all but I believe it just doesnt go places fast enough during a fight unless I'm seriously dragging my feet, same applies to Last Surprise.
Am I the only one who doesn't like P5 at all
I didn't like it. Especially after the mid way point.
Great UI, mid game.
no no no wrong wrong you are WRONG as a persona 4 fanboy I will NOT stand for this
Not a bad ranking but to me it’s
13 Battle (Revelations: Persona)
12 Battle (Persona 2: Eternal Punishment)
11 Mass Destruction FES (Persona 3 FES)
10 Takeover (Persona 5 Royal)
9 A Lone Prayer (Persona PSP)
8 Battle (Persona 2: Innocent Sin PSP)
7 What You Wish For (Persona 5 Strikers)
6 Last Surprise (Persona 5)
5 Reach Out To The Truth (Persona 4)
4 Axe To Grind (Persona 5 Strikers)
3 It’s Time To Make History (Persona 4 Golden)
2 Wiping All Out (Persona 3 Portable)
1 Mass Destruction (Persona 3)
Lone Prayer is a crime against humanity
Personaly I preferred take over from last surprise but I do think they are so unique and good them both that any could be concidered the best
Me seeing Take Over ranked so low: WHAT? WHAT???
Take over disrespect is honestly shocking
Sleeper pick, but I genuinely think that Wiping All Out is the best battle theme. But it's close.
Yup, at least tied with last surprise for me
Last Suprise is nowhere close to #1 in my opinion Take Over is far better as P5 track but Still Mass Destruction, Whiping all out and original P1 battle music still are the best
My favorite battle theme is “it’s going down now” from the new Persona 3 remake, and my second has got to be mass destruction, then my third is last surprise.
Edit: my opinion has changed, 1st is now mass destruction, I know almost every lyric to the beginning
Edit 2: you know what, take ovr is the best
The singer of Time to Make History has a name. Shihoko Hirata. If you’re discussing Persona music and want some credibility you might wanna give these legendary ladies their due.
Can't put the Persona 2 themes anywhere but right at the top myself
Now that persona 3 reoload is put i would put it's going down first place
As someone coming from the SMT series, the battle themes of modern Persona really rubs me in the wrong place, hence why I prefer the themes of P2 and PSX P1.
Though, I won't say that the music is bad, as stand alones, the musics are amazing, but in the midst of battle, they can't be more unfitting for me.
I am also biased on the fact that P2 is my favorite game of all time, so having the modern persona going astray from it kinda feels infuriating.
1. Definitely P2IS
2. P2EP
3. P1 PSX
4. P1 PSP
5. P3 FES
6. P5
7. P3 PSP
8. P3
9. P4
10. p5 royal
Big Bad: (punches me)
Me: (falls)
Big Bad: Had enough yet
Me: ... Tried to run me through........
Big Bad: No. NO NOOOO!!!! (LAST SURPRISE STARTS PLAYING)
Me: (Persona above me) BY THE TIME IT'S HIT YOU YOUR LAST SURPRISE!!!!!😎😎😎
Lol
P1 school theme is busin
Now to rank the persona spinoff songs
Take Over is the best battle theme next to Mass Destruction and Reach out to the truth.
