No, no, this lute is not out of tune, but quite purely tuned!
But the harmonies actually sound quite different from how we are used to... I used the tuning in the Age of Enlightenment, 17th and 18th centuries. In the modern "equal temperament" are the 3rds and 6ths quite detuned. We don't notice that because we are used to it... In this "meantone temperament" is tuned so that most of the intervals sound as pure as possible. The pure intervals are based on the natural overtones and work positively for our mental health. And also for our cats - they often approach the speaker...
Please watch my video about the intonation "Tame the Wolf!": • Tame the Wolf! Pure In...
I'm from Japan and studied historical music and music ethnology in Cologne/Germany and The Hague/Netherlands.
Now I live at the border between Germany and France.
- Oud & Lute - King of Instruments -
The origin of the oud belongs to the ancient times and similar instruments were used by the Babylonian and ancient Egyptian. Until today, oud is played as the "king of instruments" in Arabic culture.
The oud found his way to Europe in medieval times and it became "lute". During the Renaissance the lute was also regarded as the "king of instruments".

The key of F# minor/A major gives the baroque lute a special, radiant sound. It was therefore very favored by lutenists in the Baroque period, although it is not easy to play.
I created this piece using this traditional key with the modern musical style. Enjoy the sound from the 17th/18th century!
This is what I have been seeking for pure essential survival in the big city where the potential overwhelming energy can interrupt my serenity
So very grateful to you 🙏🌹💐Namaste Nao Sogabe
Thank you for the beautiful music ...It touches my soul.
Hang in there! It'll be alright @shirleyhankinshankins8828

Happy birthday to you! And thank you for listening!
Happy birthday 🎂
Our dear dog Sugar left this life a few days ago. She loved hearing your music. This piece brings tears to my eyes, and heart. We miss her sweet gentle soul. She was more to me than I can explain. Thank you for sharing your genuine and generous talent. I hope she can still hear you 💔.
My condolences on the loss of your beloved dog.
Recently, my wife and I lost someone close to us. I was even there when she passed away. I composed this piece based on that impression. That's why I called this piece "Departure".
I'm sure your dear dog is listening to this piece with us too.
@@NaoSogabe Thank you so much. May their memories be a blessing. 🕊
Thank you
So calming and nurturing.
I love to listen when I'm in the kitchen cooking, which is meditative for me...or in the evening as I'm watching the sun set on the canyon walls.
Blessings to all 🙏
Thank you so much for listening!
💌I was wondering when the moment will come when you will be inspired by a new tune. The time has come and something truly wonderful has been completed. The measures you follow, everything.....even the pauses. They create a pleasant sensation, a circle of sensations that rest soul and mind. A spiritual man used to say that his own way of praying is the way to bless his world. We are part of this world now where words are unnecessary when art says it all. Talk about everything beautiful in the world for Peace, love, union, harmony, serenity, purity, creation, inspiration, virtue and whatever else your heart loves my friends. Blessed the moment you gave us. We thank you.
Thank you so much! Your wonderful words help me to keep doing my creative work.
MERCI MERCI MERCI❤❤❤quelle beauté ...quel apaisement ...j écoute toute la journée ❤❤❤
Merci beaucoup!
I listened again, and when you are facing a difficult time, and you can t change it, just undergo it, then listening to your beautiful performance, I hear and feel it, the same emotion is being conveyed.
It gave me support 🌹🎵🎶🎵🌹
I am grateful for your warm feedback!
Estou ouvindo enquanto leio ''A história de Portugal'', de João Ameal.
Obrigado, um abraço do Brasil !🔰
Thanks for listening!
Super obvious analysis here: it's not just the education, expertise, composition, technique, style, execution, and clear display of decades of commitment to the art form that makes these videos great. The technical aspects (sound and video recording, production, editing, and visual design) render the products truly excellent. I'm deeply moved and inexpressibly grateful for your work. Thank you so much for all that you do.
I am deeply impressed by your ability to understand art in depth. I actually work hard on the technical areas like recording technique, video recording or visual design. Only when these technical elements are good enough can the art and expression be transmitted. Thank you very much for your valuable message!
the lute's strings sang sweetly, a gentle hush
as if the instrument itself were uttering a gentle rush
of notes that danced upon the air, a waltz of old
as if the lute's heart were beating with an ancient tale to unfold
but there was something in its song, a note of longing and of pain
a sense that time was fleeting, and the lute's song would soon be vain
for in its melody, a hint of desperation rang
as if the lute itself knew it was soon to depart, its song to hang
like a farewell kiss, the lute's final chord did play
a mournful sigh, a whispered "farewell" as it slipped away
the strings, now silent, hung like tears upon the air
as the lute's song, its final breath, disappeared without a care
oh, how the music lingered, a haunting melody in mind
a lullaby of longing, a whispered "stay" that was left behind
for in its song, the lute had shared its deepest heart
and though it was gone, its music would forever depart
Thanks again for the wonderful poem!
@@NaoSogabe And thank you for the music!
Don't make me cry like that... 😭
the lute's fingers danced upon the strings
as if to hold on, yet to release the things
that echoed through the chambers of the heart
a melody that would soon depart
it wept and wailed, a mournful sigh
as if it knew that it would say goodbye
to all the joys and sorrows it had known
to all the memories that had made it its own
its notes were like the whispers of a lover's breath
a gentle breeze that rustled through the leaves of death
it whispered secrets, sweet and tender lies
as it prepared to leave, and bid farewell to skies
the melody was a mix of sorrow and glee
a bittersweet farewell, a final decree
it was the sound of saying goodbye, yet again
to all that was familiar, all that was dear
the lute's strings vibrated with an urgency
as if to convey the weight of destiny
it played on, with a sense of longing and regret
as it surrendered to the inevitable, and let go
and when it finished, the silence was profound
a heavy stillness that weighed upon the ground
for in the melody, the lute had poured its soul
and left behind a piece of itself, forever whole

¡Gracias! Me encanta, no puedo dejar de escucharlo.
¡Muchas gracias!

Do you play any German Lute pre-Barroque? I'm very curious about what Martin Luther played at home with his family. Or popular musics form that time and place?
Unfortunately, I won't be playing any more historical works for the time being. Maybe someday...

D-Day Commemoration 6th June 2024 ... 80 years on! what music can encapsulate that DEPARTURE better?
YES! ... A "DEPARTURE" which marked the beginning of the arrival, once more, of FREEDOM to Europe and the end of Nazi Tyranny and the finality of the most grotesque war this beautiful planet has ever seen!
And ... it would seem, sadly, we could well be seeing the DEPARTURE of Freedom once again in Europe, right NOW; as truly tyrannical forces are invading Ukraine; and ALL that was won in Europe 80 years ago! ...
YES! ... For some 4, 000 souls, this would be a final DEPARTURE with no return Home that very first, dark night as D-Day began, June 6th 1944; many of whom with farewell messages inside their uniforms, to be followed by thousands more! - This invasion was to mark the beginning of the end of the most grotesque war our beautiful planet has ever seen; as little by little, Europe would be liberated from the most unimaginable, totally blind, tyrannical, satanical horror and destruction of common freedom and love.
... And 80 years on, while every one of God's avatars and their warnings are being completely ignored, yet again; the very last war Planet Earth will ever know could well be on us ... with the DEPARTURE of love en masse; a tragedy being hinted so magnificently here, within the strings of Nao Sogabe's lute!
This resonates so much with me.
Always moving, changing, learning, letting go and then departing to a new journey.
Thank you!
Thank you. This is my grief therapy on the loss of my beloved dog companion of 18 years.
I am grateful that my music can help you!
Beautiful music. Looks to be same position as f sharp minor and a major as on guitar. Can you tell me what those bass strings are tuned to?
Thanks! The tuning of the baroque lute is completely different from that of the guitar - (from the 1st string) f-d-a-f-d-a. The bass strings are tuned diatonically.
