The biggest things folks need to learn - is what you are showing. Visualize the look, plan, pre-set and produce to air. Bravo.

How significant is the delay when using the camera over NDI like this?
Like if you’re viewing someone on the Wirecast screen and they start walking, is there enough of a delay to hinder easily following them?

The delay is not noticeable. This also depends on the network you are using. You can follow people with our cameras; the delay will not hinder production.

When using Wirecast's HotKeys on Windows, despite being global, Wirecast only recognizes the keys if the window is in the foreground.
When using the X-Keys integrated keyboard, will I be able to select the layers, despite the Wirecast being in the background?

      Hello!
Using X-Keys with Wirecast is a popular setup for video producers who need a reliable way to control their broadcasts without having to keep the Wirecast window in the foreground at all times. X-Keys devices are designed to work with a wide range of software and can send keyboard shortcuts, macros, or specific software commands depending on how they're configured.
The integration of X-Keys with Wirecast can potentially overcome the limitation you're experiencing with Wirecast's hotkeys requiring the application to be in the foreground. This is because X-Keys can be programmed to send specific commands to Wirecast, leveraging the software's API or simulated keystrokes that are recognized even when Wirecast is running in the background. This capability depends on how the X-Keys is configured and how Wirecast is set up to respond to commands.
      Configuring X-Keys for Wirecast:
      1. Software Configuration: Use the X-Keys software to assign the desired actions to each key on your X-Keys device. You can assign these actions based on Wirecast's hotkeys or through custom scripting if needed.
      2. Focus Independent: Ideally, the configuration should be made in such a way that the commands sent by X-Keys are recognized by Wirecast regardless of the application's focus status. This might involve using the X-Keys software to send commands directly to Wirecast's control interface or using operating system-level features to direct input to Wirecast.
      3. Testing and Adjustment: It may require some experimentation and adjustment to get everything working smoothly. The goal is to ensure that the X-Keys device sends commands in a way that Wirecast recognizes and responds to, even when it is not the active window.
      Considerations:
      Compatibility and Updates:
      - Ensure that both your version of Wirecast and the X-Keys device firmware are up to date. Compatibility can sometimes be affected by software updates.
      Custom Scripts or Third-Party Tools:
      - In some cases, achieving focus-independent control might require custom scripts or the use of third-party tools designed to route keyboard shortcuts or commands to background applications.
      Consult Documentation and Support:
      - Check the X-Keys and Wirecast documentation for any guidelines on integrating external control devices.
      - Telestream (the company behind Wirecast) and X-Keys offer support resources that might provide additional insights.
While X-Keys provides a powerful solution for enhancing your Wirecast production workflow, the effectiveness of using it with Wirecast in the background can vary based on the specific setup and configuration. Users have reported success in similar scenarios, indicating that with proper configuration, X-Keys can indeed control Wirecast functions without requiring the application to be in focus.

Can I connect a joystick and control the ptz through wirecast or do I need to find an app?

Nice basic piece. You need to re-record the narration. Your speaker sounds like he has a baaad cold.
