Who on earth was responsible for letting this go? The situation, the cast, the writing, the acting; all first rate. I loved every minute of this all-too- brief gem of a series.
I agree it is almost criminal to let such a good plot, writing, acting, filming. Everything is TOP, and to me was just initially released a few years too early. This would have been a mainstream show today.

Maybe just a pilot to tease the public, in an era where this show fits perfectly. I really think a season 2 would get interest back into this beauty. On top of it, the first season is closing on an open ending, leaving a huge amount of space for the writing of Season 2, which I think was already scripted as the series was originally planned for more than 1 Season. Please try again launching this MasterClass.

It's really hard being a headchef in a kitchen, specially because you ending up cutting relationship with family and friends and eventually coworkers starts to hate you
I know what u mean. Went through it as F&B mng in 5 star opening hotel. I actually did openings of 2 hotels in 2 years. Insane pressure. By age of 28, I destroyed long term relationship, my parents were pist off I never call, friends started avoiding me, I assume that some of my employees did actually like me still but who knows & I got (genetically, family inherited) arthritis triggered. Dr said it's uncommon for that age but stress can trigger it early. My mum got it 2 years after me, in her late 50's. I would rather clean toilets than own any restaurant. I'm now GM of fast food chain ( approx 200 employees), though it will be easier, it's bloody fast food, not science fiction. It's extreme in different way, this week I've been waking up in sweat, I had nightmares about audits. If I wish not to die young in 50's from heart attack, I need to get out of this business once for all.
@@irenakuki8752 Only people in this industry will understand, the pressure is real, I'm in my mid 40's and starting to burn out.... but when the rush kicks in I get that second wind. Running a kitchen is no easy task, not just dealing with food, but putting out fires so to speak with employees, their personal problems affect the kitchen. Take care of your employees, most will return the favour.

All i remember of the marketing of this show was close ups of Alan Davies looking tired. Also they didnt differenciate themselves from Chef! with Lenny Henry only few years before. In my opinion.

If this show actually gets redone, people like Skoose or Kiki should get recasted because the show was made in 2010. I can see Prime or HBO max doing this, but I feel like one of the directors (David Kerr Googled) should be in on it too.
Not from the UK; his accent is difficult for me but usually I get most of it if I rewind what he’s saying a few times. It would have helped me if the volume was up a little louder for him this episode. It’s just horrible this was only ONE series long!! We need series 2!! 💙💛💙💛
