Thanks for the video. I went into Cloudy lake last month and faced the big winds of Gold lake. I was glad I had the double blade paddle for my Nova Craft Fox 14.
Thanks! I haven't been to Cloudy yet. I'll have to check that out. I spent a lot of time in KHPP this year. Some on video, some not. But I'm way behind on my editing. It's been a very busy year with getting married and a new home.
@@danielmailhotoutdoors Congrats on both! I kayaked into CLoudy a few years ago through the creek. Do it earlier in the season when water levels are higher. Very narrow channel and 10 beaver dams to lift over. I switched to a canoe this year as I was having more difficulty getting in and out of the boat. The portage into Cloudy is a bit long but a nice walk. I was at site 505 this year and 504 previously. both are nice. Not crazy about 503 as it is in shade all day.
Thanks Daniel! I look forward to some weekend trips in this area. I also have you on Facebook now! Looking forward to following you future adventures and catching up on the ones that I missed!
Nice Time with a nice boat! I had also the chance, to try this boat out. It was wonderful. Actualy here in Germany not available an the prices of all boats from US and CDN growed up to heaven.... sadly....
Thanks for the comments, Hans. Here in Canada, we are experiencing delays in buying canoes and kayaks. The "used" market is almost the same price as the new boats. But I'm glad to support our Canadian boat builders. The Esquif is manufactured in Quebec and have a new kayak on order from Delta in British Columbia. I really like the Esquif. It's perfect for my back country adventures.
Hiya Dan - we looked at an Esquif canoe this past fall, but couldn't test paddle so we hope to try in spring. New canoe shopping is fun but a pain too with costs and availability.
It's a really nice boat. Not the lightest, but it's very tough. Excellent craftsmanship. I'm hoping to pick up a tandem canoe in the spring, but I'll go light for that. The danger is I'm moving 20 minutes from Frontenac Outfitters. Dangerous for the wallet :D
Hey, Daniel! I’m camping this site this weekend coming up and I was curious about where the cold lake access point is? From what I’ve been mapping out the only access point is on Wolf Lake. If you could get back to me with an address or anything with information on the Cold Lake Access point that would be awesome. Thanks!
You can get the access point from Beaver Lake Rd off the 507 in Catchacoma. This is on the west side of the park. Wolf Lake is on the east side. Have fun!
Thanks Gwyn. I will definitely still use the kayak. I plan on buying a bigger kayak in the future, to go out to the big waters. I'm liking the canoe quite a bit, but there's times this summer when I wish I was in my kayak. I feel much safer in the kayak. Because I'm moving shortly, a lot of things went to storage including my kayak. So I didn't use it much this year. I miss it!
@@danielmailhotoutdoors For sure. Getting the balance right between weight, performance/effectiveness on water, robustness etc is tricky. Lighter material kayaks can take a beating on the rocks too, depending on the nature of the shoreline. I'm using a kayak. But they say there isn't one boat that covers all the bases. Apparently, we need a fleet! Have a good move.
Thanks for watching! The Esquif Adirondack is a light canoe. If you fit the weight profile, that's a great solo canoe. I'm a big guy so I needed to go with the Echo 14. I picked it up at Frontenac Outfitters in eastern Ontario. Super nice people running that business. As for the yoke, I have yet to find one that's easily available in Canada. Shortages of equipment over the last two years have made it really challenging. That said, I have been portaging the canoe on my shoulder, using a yoke pad attached to a 10L dry bag strap for comfort. It's not the best, but it'll do for now. I have no regrets buying the Esquif. Very tough and reasonably light. I'm not careful with my gear so I wanted something that could handle some rough stuff. Good luck on your search. I'd love to hear what you got!
@@danielmailhotoutdoors I ended up getting a nova craft fox. It is very similar to the echo. I could not get an esquif anywhere around my area. Now to get out on the water and test it.
Thanks for the video!
Thanks Jordan!

Hey, looks great.
I would like to buy that canoe now or the esquif adirondack. Where did you buy it from and what yoke do you use. Thanks
