www.cbradiomaga... - Testing out the President New York CB Antenna a small/compact magnetic mount antenna. It's definitely a compromise in performance but for its size it performed surprisingly well.
Why do I only recommend 40 watts for this antenna? I've seen a couple of reviews where people said they ran into issues running 60 watts or 100 watts into this antenna and encountered failures. I'd suggest 40-50 watts max just to be on the safe side and always be aware of your SWR at higher wattages.

For anyone wondering, this antenna is amazing. Super durable and the wife got out about 5 miles with it to my truck with a wilson 5000 on a stock cobra 29.
Bought one of these. Looks great on the family SUV. Works great on the interstate. Gets out as far as I want. When interstate driving I dont need to get out 4-6 miles, Accross the medium and a mile or two in either direction is fine with me.
Nice to see you back. I got one of these a few months ago. We take my wife's minivan when we bring my daughter to her doctors appointments in Boston. I used to use a Lil' Wil antenna but I always had to stop and take it down whenever we parked in the garages. This thing is low enough to allow us to park with it still up. Plus it works decently enough to get road reports from the truckers while traveling. Definitely a worthwhile investment.
Hi I just switched to the New Yorker, I am using it on a Midland 77-822 and really love this antenna. Yes it is not "as powerful" as a full sized whip, but when you are commuting in your vehicle often enough you driving out of range to others so quickly that I honestly don't think its a problem. It matches almost perfectly to the radio.
I am laughing my ass off you got that one hundred percent right my wife doesn't want a big antenna in top of the vehicle and tell she says it looks ugly so I guess I have to use this new small antenna😂
What would you recommend for a smaller magnetic antenna with spring like around 24'' tall for a truck that can be stowed behind seat when not in use ?
What are the threads on the antenna to base? Could you use an adapter to this antenna for a Frequency Monitor or Antenna Analyser?
I love to have a 102 inch whip..
But , today's new vehicles
don't allow for that..
I like to know what radio

102 inch whip is for 10 meters. 108 inch is for cb 11 meters, we can buy from MFJ part # is mfj - 1966
I'm old school, back in the day it was always 102" plus a spring :) 102" still are sold in most CB shops but the 108" MFJ whip might be a better match for certain installs.

Hehe. I had a large antenna I forgot to take off for a valet at a hotel.
Antenna was smacking the ceiling of the parking garage.
At what speed will the antena blow off at ?

Now being sold as the New Virginian by President. Price has gone up to $69. I do like it as a plug and play antenna.
How long is the coax?

The coax seems a bit thin. It must lose some signal strength.

Works fine until the cord at the base come apart. Cheap flimsy connection.
I stopped the video and asked my wife about it. She still wasn't having it. Oh well, at lest I got her to put the Uniden 505 and one of those cheap little MM antennas in the floorboard of the back seat in case of emergency.

You can tighten it down, won't move at all.
