This channel is so underappreciated, Lee. Every single video you post speaks to me, and I really appreciate you giving your thoughts and advice so openly. It’s so often just the kinda thing that’s on my mind.
I really hope you start getting the views you deserve.

For me the downside is expensive especially if you are already obsessed with collecting carbon plated shoes, running clothes and gears. Going to a marathon event is also expensive especially if you book a hotel that is near to the starting line. Good side is your fitness level. You value your sleep. You avoid unhealthy foods and controlling your alcohol intake like very occasionally but is still love to drink pint of beer after marathon like reward for the effort you gave physically, mentally and financially.

Oh I can definitely relate to that. Being in my late 40s with a full time job, a wife and a kid + being a musician. And then trying to fit as much running as I can and competing in races at increasing paces. The feedback that I get from my wife every week is “you run a lot!” And she’s right. And I am not even trying to get money from it. Just following that excitement of improving week after week, getting more clarity and getting that dopamine kick of having another training session well done ticked from the list and a few kudos from the same people on Strava 😂 which if you stop and look at it may look completely silly!

Yes, the flip side is that you becoming the "best version of yourself" helps in all directions.

Skiping nights out with the boys, not able to spend as much time with family, being the guy at work that says "no thanks" when they are having a pizza party, taco tuesday and all that.

This is so true I’m doing an annular first year event of this hundred miler kind of close to my home where I can be on the trails to train and everything and I’m over 60 so I’m saying I really wanna go for first place in my age group, instead of just finishingand I’m changing my training and and a friend just said just make sure you don’t lose your joy of running, he used to be a sponsored athlete and I drove him away from the sports. It’s so true. It’s a great video, but I’m still going for it.
